I have been reading this book to me son since he was three. The stories are presented in a short, but complete fashion that make this a really nice Bedtime Reading book.

After looking for quite a while and having no luck finding a children's bible story book that was based only on the Old Testament and not geared towards Christianity, I was delighted to find this book. The stories are simplified and gentle but factual. The illustrations are some of the best I have ever seen. Excellent bed-time reading.

This is a lovely addition to any jewish child's library. I gave it to all of my grandchildren and their parents enjoy reading it to them.

Alfred J. Kolatch is the acclaimed author of THE JEWISH BOOK OF WHY and THE SECOND JEWISH BOOK OF WHY, among other more scholarly works. This is a nice, brightly illustrated, rendering of the basic Bible stories of the Old Testament (with some Talmudic material, as well). It is surprising that it is as hard as it is to find a Bible Stories book rendered for Jewish youngsters (I remember having a very nice one when I was about seven or eight), so Rabbi Kolatch's book is a valuable find.

I presented this to my 9-year-old granddaughter who found it easy to read, interesting, and attractive to look it. It's probably geared to younger readers, but for my purpose it was a good beginning.

This is a wonderfully written and illustrated book, about the beginning of time. It also shares with the children on doing right from wrong and what God thinks about it. As a homeschool teacher there are many ways this book will be used, in class as well as out of class.
