Editorial Reviews

Before he became a bona-fide movie star, actor Bruce Willis was a bona-fide television star with his co-starring role in Moonlighting, one of the most popular TV hits of the '80s. Often times, bona-fide television stars decide that their television success is a stepping stone to bigger and better things...including becoming a bona-fide Rock 'N' Roll star. If David Hasselhoff could do it, anyone could...right?! So, in the early '80s, Willis signed with Motown and released a few spirited albums filled with Blues, Soul, Rock and R&B numbers (mostly covers) perfect for Willis' raspy voice. This 18 track compilation features the best of his album tracks and proves that Willis was having a whole lot of fun while living life as a talented and credible bona-fide Rock star. Soon enough, he began making hit films, set aside his Rock dreams and he has never looked back. Unfortunately, David Hasselhoff is probably polishing off a new album as you read this....Universal.

A great compilation of Bruce Willis' musical output, featuring all the tracks from his debut album The Return Of Bruno (1987), most of the tracks from his second effort (If It Don't Kill You..., 1989) plus the extended version of his top 5 hit Respect Yourself as a bonus. All of this newly and brilliantly remastered. Recommended to all Bruno's fans.

Bruce Willis singing is so much fun - his natural conveyance of his love of life is probably the best part of this CD - I own the LP, too - this CD and Moonlighting are two of my very favorites! So, glad to have this, and I did get Moonlighting, too, again in my everyday world!

Bruce can Sing!! I own the two albums this cd compiles, and when I first bought the Return of Bruno all I know is the duet with June Pointer was great (I didn't know at the time it was a remake), but Bruce loves Motown and old school R&B. After listening to the cassette (I bought the cd later) I found that he could sing really well, and while he's not the greatest voice out there, he does a really great job. What really to me is the selling point of his music is he loves what he's doing. I don't see this as a vanity project, this was a labor of love. He isn't singing for the money he sings because he's moved to. The fun is infectious. There are a lot of great remakes and lots of great original songs. the only song I'd say is really week is Barnyard Boogie. But to have this cd at this price with all the tracks from those two cds is a steal. Well worth your money and you'll find yourself singing along, you can't help it. Those who hate on Bruce probably just hate it when actors abuse their celebrity and do albums because they know they will sell, but they haven't heard these songs. if they did they'd know Bruce is genuinely sincere in this endeavor. I just wished he would have released more. A definite must have. If you love Motown and soul music this will fit in very nicely with your collection. I will also add that he and Danny Aiello did two songs on the Hudson Hawk soundtrack (that movie wasn't as bad as everyone says it is, it just kinda messes up at the end) but the showpiece of that movie is those two singing when they do their stealing. And the two songs from that movie are on that soundtrack as well. if you can find it, it's worth it for the two songs. Willis is a fan of Frank Sinatra and you get to hear him sing Frank. It's something to definitely check out.

I love hearing this great voice coming from someone most people think is "just an actor." This collection is some of his best!

I LOVE Bruce Willis - and i love the blues. I am surprised that so many people don't even know he has a band. I went to see him in person and he is simply awesome. So sexy and so in love with the music he does. His music is equal to his acting. Too bad more people don't know he has all this music that is as fabulous as his films.

This CD contains a song I had previously owned on a cassette tape. I wore it totally out. I tried and tried to find it in record stores - the various clerks would tell me the song was not available on any of his CDS. I finally resorted to the computer and found it. I don't like putting my financial info on the computer, but in this case it was worth the chance. love, love, love it. "Here Comes Trouble Again".

I have wanted the Bruce Willis oeuvre for a long time and this single CD collects ALL THE HITS in ONLY ONE PLACE!!! Respect Yourself? Check! Respect Yourself (Extended 12" Version)? You bet your sweet bippy it's got it! Plus, the liner notes are well written, being careful to only hint at the fact that, if not for Bruce's involvement in Planet Hollywood, he would have won Grammy after Grammy after Grammy, then taken a break to write the book for a Tony award winning production of Moonlighting On Broadway then retuned to his Grammy domination.

Sadly, The Seagram's Golden Wine Cooler jingle is missing but hey, who doesn't already have that, right?

I first heard these songs on a CD where he labels himself as BRUNO. I was first blown away it was Bruce Willis, but I remember the stuff he would sing occasionally on "Moonlighting". The songs are Old Classics- with a special twist on his James Bondish re-do of SECRET AGENT MAN (awesome). When I decided to get the BRUNO CD, it was pretty much unavailable or too expen$ive. This CD from Universal Collections is the SAME thing at a usually low Amazon price (so just get it!).
