4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Bubble Bobble Finally Brought Back to Life!
Bubble Bobble is a game about two dinosaurs who must fight their way through countless levels by blowing bubbles to capture their enemies and then popping them. This game has been one of my favorites ever since it came out in the arcades and then the Nintendo system. So, when the game came out for GBC, i was thrilled. 1.0 out of 5 stars A disappointment
First of all I was really excited to see this game on the shelf at Toys R Us but trust me this game is very disappointing. They took away the original storyline, the fairies, the bosses that you run into every 25 levels... yeah pretty much the original game. If I had known they had basically torn this game apart I wouldn't have bought it. They also increased the speed...

It was brought back to life perfectly, aside from a few details. It is almost exactly like the original Nintendo and arcade versions, only smaller. This, however, can present a problem. The game has turned into a side-scroller of sorts. Instead of seeing the whole screen at once, you can only see part of it an must be wary of enemies lurking below you, since you can't view them until you move down to the next screen. Another difficulty is that Bob, the blue dino, is not included in this game. I was disappointed. Sorry this review was so long. OK, my final statements: good for all ages (from beginners to vets), secrets, passwords, fun to play, good audio, if you have a GBC then get it. If you have only a GB, dont bother with the game. It loses a lot w/out its color.

4.0 out of 5 stars What About Bob?, January 28, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Classic Bubble Bobble (Video Game)
Okay, okay, so I took a movie title for my review title, and all in all, I really like the game, but what about Bob? In the original Bubble Bobble for the PC, you could choose 1 or 2 player, and player 1 would be Bub (green) and player 2 would be Bob (blue), but in this version of the game, Bob seems to be a bit under the weather and you have to make him better by finding some mysterious "moon water." The gameplay is quite similar to the original, though, with some neat bonus levels and level bosses every so often! It also has a password feature, so you can pick up where you left off and maybe, just maybe, beat the game someday! ;-D This game is really a must for all Bubble Bobble lovers!

They also increased the speed limit of how long you have to get rid of the bad guys, you don't get that big diamond bonus... *sigh*.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, January 9, 2001

I bought this game thinking it was what it claimed to be "Classic" Bubble Bobble. Buyer beware, this is not what the game turned out to be. The colors were very good, but the gameplay left a lot to be desired. The game was pathetically easy and offered up only about 60 levels. The bubbles were difficult to pop and way too easy to jump on. All in all, give me the classic on the NES any day over this poorly made modern version.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than the NES Original, December 15, 2000
This review is from: Classic Bubble Bobble (Video Game)
I really enjoyed the gameplay of the NES original version and this plays even better. Believe it or not the colors are more vibrant, and the backgrounds have more depth. Games like Super Mario Brothers Deluxe and Classic Bubble Bobble outshine their NES counterparts and pay homage to the classic versions of old.
