Editorial Reviews

Kari Anderson and Jay Blahnik are longtime fitness instructors who have reached the top of their field. They train instructors, have starred individually in many top-rated videos, and each has won IDEA's coveted Fitness Instructor of the Year award. They team together in Classic Cardio for almost an hour of high/low impact aerobic-dance full of interesting patterns.

Anderson and Blahnik are excellent instructors. Their choreography is quite complex, but they teach each move in its easiest elements first. They then add on variations and combine the moves into patterns (you'll probably need to stop and start this video many times at first to get all the moves). It would have been helpful to have one class member stay with the basic moves for exercisers who aren't ready for all of the variations and turns.

The constantly building choreography is dancey but without hip-hop or funk moves. This is traditional aerobic dance, with innovative choreography that travels, so you'll need some space. If you like your choreography challenging and you don't care for the MTV moves and music so prevalent in many videos, you'll enjoy this one. Coordination required; energy supplied! --Joan Price

5.0 out of 5 stars A workout with class, January 30, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Classic Cardio [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The first time I did this tape, it didn't get my heart rate up much because I was just learning the moves. But from the second time on this video got me into my target zone. You can do the moves more vigorously if you want a harder workout, or you can modify for a little lower impact if you want a little easier day. It really does get you sweating, though. Kari and Jay are great instructors who obviously have enthusiasm for what they are doing without being silly or "whooping." I have been exercising for about a year and consider myself intermediate/advanced, and this tape is a definite keeper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great workout, October 12, 2000

This review is from: Classic Cardio [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I recently added more floor aerobics to what was an exclusively step workout regimen. This tape had more complex coreography than I had done before and it took me two times through the workout before I was really getting it. Nonetheless, the workout raises my heart rate and is fun. Great tape!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Video, July 10, 2005
This review is from: Classic Cardio [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a great cardio workout. It may take a few times to learn the steps. It should definitely help one lose weight. This video may be a problem if you have problems with dizziness, bad feet/knees. There is a lot of jumping and turning.
