As stated in the headline this is not new material it simply combines her two Christmas albums into this one (leaving some tracks out in case you're a completist).

This is not new material. Listening to the samples, they sound exactly like her two previous Christmas albums, A Christmas Album (1967) and Christmas Memories (2001). I wouldn't waste your money on this if you already own these two gems. But, if you don't, you won't be sorry you purchased this.

Hello, Dolly! Barbara's voice has aged, but is still perfection to my ears. She nails every one of these classics with laid back, jazzy productions that showcase her voice rather than distract from it. "I'll Be Home for Christmas" literally took my breath away, but even the less obvious choices like "I Remember" and "A Christmas Love Song" are note-worthy highlights.

"Silent Night" is one of the best renditions you'll find.

"My Favorite Things" is given an ultra-lounge rendition that make the lyrics feel mature and wise. Gorgeous.

"O Little Town of Bethlehem" - I've always been bored by this song, but Barbara makes it sound like butter. LOVE it.

OVERALL: 16 tracks and, if I'm in a bad mood, I'll say I didn't like two of them. The rest are AMAZING. The productions are traditional with a jazzy wintry simplicity that is exactly what a Christmas song should be. You will DEFINITELY want to add this album to your '13 Holiday Playlist.

Warning-this is NOT a new album. It's a compilation of her two previous Christmas albums. If you own those, you don't need to buy this one.But what's included here-especially the cuts from "A Christmas Album"-is wonderful. This is Barbra at her best!

I was very disappointed when this album turned out to be repackaged and perhaps remixed material that Barbra released decades ago. For some reason, I thought this was new material but not the case. Buyer beware. That said, these are classics so enjoy.

A great singer singing great songs! This album combines the mainly secular songs of Barbra Streisand's two previous Christmas albums.

She is and has been since she began recording, my favorite singer. Each song has original touches, each is "told" like a story, with the pauses needed to create the true meaning of the phrases. Her voice is warm, tender, while capable of being strident in the same song, at the places it needs that quality. She is not only a marvelous singer, she is par excellence as a song stylist.

When I buy a Barbara Streisand CD, I expect the best. This CD is not one of her best outings. While I enjoyed hearing her voice as always, it was not enough to make me say "Wow." It is just "OK."

Just an opinion, but there are some glaring omissions on this one. I have been a fan since and even before the first Christmas album was released. In my home, there were compilation albums released by Goodyear that could be purchased at gas stations for $1.00. They were released by Columbia every year for about 8 years and had highlights from their long list of artists. Barbra was represented beautifully with her takes on Gounod's Ave Maria and The Lord's Prayer. The much later release by Barbra called Christmas Memories contained the Schubert version of Ave Maria. In my opinion, if one wanted to get a taste of what Barbra could do with classic material, these three masterpieces should be the first three considered. I don't understand why Columbia couldn't take these two sublime albums and release them on one disc called The Classic Christmas Album. Maybe it's been done and I've missed it. If so, I apologize. My thought is that if you want to listen to a full Streisand Christmas experience with the strongest emotion and the best vocals intact, just purchase the two individual albums and listen away....
