5.0 out of 5 stars The best of "Honky Tonk"
"Classic Country: Honky Tonk Heroes" is a 2-cd set from Time Life Music. I really appreciate the huge "Classic Country" collection of cds which this is a part. It is really hard to find the great old country music songs. Honky Tonk is definitely a special niche within country music, sad songs about guys who spend way to much time in barrooms. 1.0 out of 5 stars Lineup all wrong.
I tried to listen to samples of the songs and you have them all wrong. I click on one song and get another from on the list. What gives anyway?

"Classic Country: Honky Tonk Heroes" is a 2-cd set from Time Life Music. I really appreciate the huge "Classic Country" collection of cds which this is a part. It is really hard to find the great old country music songs. Honky Tonk is definitely a special niche within country music, sad songs about guys who spend way to much time in barrooms. The artists on this set are true greats: Hank Williams Sr., Webb Pierce, Red Foley, Buck Owens, Conway Twitty, and many others. Some of these songs will be familiar old favorites to fans of "Country Gold Saturday Night", such as "Crazy Arms" by Ray Price, "I Can't Stop Loving You" by Don Gibson, and "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights" by Freddy Fender. My husband, born during the Great Depression in a family of Okies and Arkies, absolutely loves these sad cheatin' songs, and even I got a kick out of hearing the original "Honky Tonk Man" by Johnny Horton which was remade by my favorite, Dwight Youkum.

Honky Tonk Heroes / Classic Country series / Time Life single disc version: This is a Great CD from the series with 20 of the best from the genre. "Charlie's Shoes" is a great forgotten song and a nice addition to the disk. Five Stars.

---------------------
A little info on the Time Life Country Classics:

Time Life has single CDs under the title of "Best of Classic Country" divided into decades so there is a single CD under that name for the "50's", "60's", "70's" and "80's".

Time Life also has many single CDs under the general term of "Country Classics". These titles include:
- Kings of Country
- Queens of Country
- God, Family, Country
- Road songs
- Great Story Songs
- More Great Story Songs
- Crazy Country Hits
- Sweet Country Ballads
- Honky Tonk Heroes
- Great Country Gospel
and several (many many) more titles. These disks are all very good to great, but there is a lot of songs that are repeated from one disk to another.

I loved this album! It has so many good songs and artists - just wish that I could find the other volumes.
