Those old enough to remember the golden years of shellac (78s) and vinyl (45s, EPs and LPs) will recall that MGM - Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer - was a rich source of country music and prime runner of the period was Hank Williams. Hank was b-i-g business but as time went on MGM would also represent a truly awesome roster of talent including Connie Francis, Roy Orbison, Lou Christie, Gloria Gaynor, The Mothers Of Invention, Jim Stafford, George Shearing Quintet, Joni James, Wayne Newton and the Osmonds - not to mention a rich catalog of country music as represented here. These recordings span throughout the 1950s.
