From Library Journal
Machlin is the author of the two-part Classic Cuisine of the Italian Jews and of Child of the Ghetto, a memoir about growing up in a small town in Italy before and during World War II. Her dessert book, which includes recipes from all over Italy, is part memoir as well, with reminiscences of family life in happier times along with references to the harsh realities of the war. Headnotes provide background for many of the more unusual sweets, and, like her earlier cookbooks, this one includes recipes that might otherwise have been lost. Strongly recommended.

From the Publisher
This book with its delicious recipes and "adorable illustrations" as Joan Nathan describes them in her foreword to the book should be considered by the reader not only as a gift to oneself but as an ideal gift for friends together with the other two books in the trilogy of cookbooks written by Edda Servi Machlin. These books warm the heart as well as provide recipes that delight the palate.
