No harsh cleaning supplies needed. -When measuring your windows, remember to consider adding roughly 4-inch to each end (the space the finials will take up). Look absolutely nothing like the picture shown in the product description. These are not 'antiqued silver'....they are merely cheap black metal tubes with some gray paint that looks like a 5 tear olds art project. What a joke...Tail of the Lion and Amazon should be embarrassed that they sell these things. At least show a real picture of what the buyer will really get!

Ball finials broke during initial assembly of the product. Plastic plug attached to the ball broke away during insertion into the rod ends. Not a good quality item.
