Good for die-hard fans,
By M.R. (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Classic Everly Brothers (Audio CD)
The first two discs of this box have all the Cadence songs you know and love--plus a few extra collectors items--none essential. The third disc has other rarities--more alternates and a live radio show with lots of chatting with the host and other country stars. Again, not essential. Given its price, it's hard to recommend this set to anyone other than a completist, though it does contain a lot of great music.

best sound ever?,

This review is from: Classic Everly Brothers (Audio CD)
The most beautiful popular music I know. The vocal harmonies sound alive 40+ years later, the guitars are full of energy and joy (the brothers and Chet Atkins). The music takes you back to a time of optimism and experiment (rock and roll guitar), and further back (in Songs Our Daddy Taught Us) to folk and country roots. The hills and sky are in it. May be an expensive introduction to the EB's, but the BF pristine sound makes it worth it, plus a booklet with color photos and a Colin Escott essay. If I had only set of music to keep, this would be it (with apologies to Fats Domino- his BF set is also terrific).
