Don't be fooled, this is definitely not a 11.5g chip,

Good bang for the buck chip, that is definitely better than your typical chipie plastic chips of the past. They are advertised as being a 11.5g chip, but they are no where near the quality of a casino or high quality poker chip. With that said, for 10 cents a chip, I really can't complain too much. They stack okay, and sound good when playing with the chips. If you're on a budget, this is a good set to begin with. For those looking for a high quality chip, you need to look elsewhere.

These are probably the best plastic chips you can buy; they are heavy, thick, durable and attractive. They make a nice sound and are leagues ahead of the cheap kind of chip I used to use. If you want something a little classy to play with but can't afford real clay chips, these are great. But, be careful ordering them in the tin if you are particular about which style you want (they actually come in three unique patterns), since with the tin the picture on this site only shows one style and you don't have a choice so you might not be getting what you thought you were. I ended up with a pattern that I don't want. The patterns are: dice, pyramids, four suits of a card deck. I wanted the pyramids like in the picture, but got four suits of a card deck, which doesn't go with the mahjong set I ordered them for. But, if you don't particularly care what pattern you end up with, this tin comes highly recommended. If you might care, I recommend searching for a place where you can specify which type.

I bought these locally and the box didn't say "11.5g" on it, but it was labled Heavy Weight. They are very durable, and feel just like real chips, even they aren't made of the same material. I did a blind test vs. some real chips I had left over from Vegas and couldn't determine which was real except by the sound it made. These chips do make a decent sound though, and the price is right!

The chips are not 11.5 gram chips and are not the same as advertised but are fairly decent.

Definitely NOT casino chips, but leagues better than the traditional home chip set!
We use em for hold em and craps. Ours have the card suits graphics; i wish we had the pyramids, but not really a big deal. They sound good and feel good when you throw em around. The one drawback is that they have 25pcs of each color...would be better if they had more whites and reds / with less greens and blues.

I purchased the chips in a tin at another location, and an additional package labeled "deluxe poker set" containing 200 chips and a wooden case. I added another divider to the case, and upgraded the catches, and now I have a very nice mahogany lookign case with 300 chips that are VERY good quality. I play tournament poker at a local casino and these chips feel exactly like those I use there. I am not sure of the weight, but I know they feel just like casino chips. No where do they say they are 11.5 grams, nor do they clain to be clay. I believe they are likely 8.5 gram ABS composite chips, but they are leagues ahead of the old fashioned plastic chips we all had as kids, and feel very similar to the bicycle clay chips that you pay $15 for 50 of. For a total outlay of $40.25 (both chip sets, additional sood for new divider, upgraded catches to handle additonal weight, and wood repair kit to cover old screw holes, etc, I have a professional quality set that I am proud to take to my monthly ring games I use as practice for my tourneys. My only wish is that I had a different breakdown... right now I have 125 white, 75 red, 75 blue, 25 green. I wish I had some blacks. The 200 set was 100 white, 50 each red and blue. If only Cardinal sold packs of 25 by color... I'd quickly order 25 more green and 50 blacks. If someone can tell me where to get similar chips (in the suited design) cheaply, it'd be great!
Again.. wonderful chips and great feel/weight for the money.

Well i recently bought the poker set, that ahs 200 chips 2 decks of cards, dealer button, and rotating stand. I wanted some more chips so i could paly with some more friends so i bought these thinking they would be the same. Well for my i received the same colors, but the quality wasnt as good. The paint was as finess as these, they felt a little lighter, but hey only 10 bucks, i can live with it. But i suggest you spend 10 more dollars and get a rotating stand with 2 deck of cards, plus 100 more chips with dealer button.

I got this set on clearance for under $5. They are not "heavyweight" 11.5g chips. Maybe 7.2g. These chips are plastic/composite, and the spades, club, diamond, and hearts are painted on. Within a few minutes of just playing with these chips (just stacking them, clinking them together, shuffling, etc) the paint started to rub off.
These are great to give my kids when I want them to stay away from my "nicer" chips. These might be okay for younger kids or maybe even teenagers, but taking these to a real poker game will get you laughed at!

Product took 9 days to arrive using the cheapest shipping.
The parcel packaging was okay, but the tin was well packaged. It was shrink-wrapped, and its lid was sealed all the way around with tape. The tin box itself is not really sturdy because of the diamond shaped window installed on the lid, thus a few chips were out of place. I immedately noticed (thru the window) that one of the loose chips had a white diamond smudged completly off. Once opened, it was difficult to remove the chips from their flimsy $0.02 "rack" in an orderly fashion. I had to compel them to come out by turning it upside down and "poping" a couple out (as if they were medications in a bubble foil). There was 1 blue chip missing. So, I only have 99 chips total. (plus the dealer button) The chips play real well, though. The included "Texas Hold'em" playing instructions did not suggest how to distribute the chips or what denomination each color is normally assigned. (In most casinos, red is the lowest denominator..etc [Red=5, White=10, Green=25, Blue=100]) It also didn't suggest that each player should start with $1000 worth of chips, which is also a norm. I recommend 2 or 3 players for the amount of chips included. This was my first chip purchase and I'd have to say they are impressive for their price. I'm willing to forget about that missing blue chip because i'll probably lose more chips in the future as the tin does not stay closed if it's on its side.

These are definately not 11.5 gram chips. They weight a little less than that, but at 10 cents a chip they are great. I haven't seen anywhere else on the Internet that could match that price. I got mine at my local Walgreens in Chicago suburbs.
The dealer button is a little weak too. It is the same size and color as a white chip with Dealer stamp on only one side. For the money it's will do. |
