Goosebumps from R.L. Stine continues to offer chilling and fun books for the pre-teen crowd. Perhaps not as popular as they were several years ago, these are still enjoyable reads...not too scary for elementary school kids with a target audience of age 6 - 11 I would say.

In Ghost Beach, Jerry and his sister Terri go to visit their aunt and uncle who live near a cemetary as well as a beach that has a scary cave and is the subject of local legends. Jerry and Terri are told by local kids that the cave is haunted but of course they decide they need to check it out for themselves and journey off to explore the dark and forbidding cave. A flickering light entices the kids in and soon they wish they would have heeded the warnings.

Like all Goosebumps book this is a light, quick read. Perfect for younger kids to read themselves in a few days or for parents to read along with other children. Just scary enough to give them some chills but not too scary to cause nightmares. Very enjoyable!

The Goosebumps series are books that are thrilling, they are about monsters and skeletons. The novels are great for kids in elementary school. This book should not be banned because it is a great for kids to read and that are fun to read too. I don't know why anyone would want to ban these books by R.L. Stine. In one of the books a girl finds a mask and put and on, but when she tries to take it off it doesn't come off. These novels are not bad to read so they shouldn't be banned.

Goosebumps are not bad books. They are not really even scary. All the books do is provide entertainment and enjoyment in book form. The goosebumps are short and not challenging but they good. The books probably shouldn't be read by 7th and 8th graders but it still shouldn't be banned for everyone else.

This book is one of my favorite Goosebumps books. It keeps you guessing until the end!

I think this it was relly scary and at the begining of the it was scary to the end it was such a good book that i think it should have ratings of 8

I remember collecting Goosebumps when the first wave came out a decade ago. Ghost Beach was written around the time the series was taking off in popularity, but before it got saturated in merchandise and took a dip in quality. There's nothing goofy about Ghost Beach, it's a straight-forward ghost story with some decent twists here and there. It's also one of the scarier books in the series, along the lines of "Welcome to Dead House." Good for some safe scares.

I used to get scolded for reading too much Goosebumps and not enough "real" literature, but it's hard enough to get kids to read these days. Recommended for any paperback collection.

Synopsis: Jerry and Terri Sadler are visiting their distant cousins Brad and Agatha in their new England home at the end of summer. One day, while they are exploring a sandy beach, they see a dark cave at a distance. They decide to check it out, but after an strange incident with a `bat', they forget about it when they meet three other kids; Sam, Louisa and Nat Sadler.

When Jerry and Terri tell the three other Sadlers about exploring the cave, they tell them that there is a ghost that lives in the cave. At first Jerry and Terri don't believe them, but after uncovering the skeleton of an animal in the woods, they are convinced that something strange is going on. When Jerry sees a light flickering in the cave during a full moon night, he realizes that there is someone in the cave.

As the story progresses, Jerry and Terri decide to explore the cave to solve the mystery of the ancient ghost, only to discover the shocking secret behind it, and how much danger they are really in.

Review: Even though this is not one of the best Goosebumps stories I have read, I certainly did enjoy reading this story. I feel it was really different from other Goosebumps books, because it was more of a mystery story than a scary one. With the setting of a beach, a cave and a mystery to solve, I felt like I was like reading a Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys story with a tinge of supernatural element added to it, which is why I enjoyed it so much.

Some parts of the story that stood out for me were, when Jerry and Terri confront the entity living in the cave, when Jerry gets attacked by the `bat' from the cave, and the climax of the book.

The story is somewhat predictable because Stine adds in a lot of hints in the middle of the story itself about the ghost, so the reader somewhat figures out the solution to who the ghost could be. I think it is because of this reason that I did not consider this as my favorite Goosebumps book because I didn't get shocked in anyway. However, the author does succeed in blending adventure, mystery and suspense nicely into the story, and I thought this was very unique from other titles in the series.

If you enjoyed reading other books in the series like "Werewolf of Fever Swamp", you will enjoy "Ghost Beach".

Jerry and Terri visit some relitives on an island, on an island that is HAUNTED! on their trip they get bored so go outside, and meet there strange kids about their age, one day the kids dare Jerry and Terri to go into a cave that has a flickering light, the rumurs of the cave are that a 3 hundred year old ghost lives in the cave a ghost that came when the first people arrived. Jerry and Terri accept the dare and go inside, and they saw... THIS WAS A PERFECT THRILLER THAT SOULDN'T CHANGE.

Ghost Beach is such an exellent book. When I read the back of the book I was thrilled! Read to see what happens in this story. This is about two children that go to their grandparent's house. They meet three kids while they go in a cave. The kids tell them stories about a ghost that lives in the cave. One night the kids go to the beach. They meet the kids again. The kids ask them if they would help them trap the ghost. They say yes. The rest you should find out by yourself.R.L. Stine wrote this book to teach us to listen to our parents or someone who takes care of you. You should tell your friends to be truthful with each other.I loved this book so much I couldn't put it down.It wouldn't leave my hands.This is the third best book I have ever read!

Another piece of awesome from RL Stine. Even for a middle grade book, he really doesn't pull any punches.

Sure there are some cheesy moments. Some kooky senses of humor being thrown about. A lot of spooky moments that turn out to be something not so spooky after all. But it all comes back around in the end, leaving everything hanging, including Jerry and his sister!

Stine's got the MG voice down pat. He doesn't dumb it down for the reader and he doesn't skimp on the spook. He targets an age that he knows needs a bit of a goof but isn't afraid to get scared too. And I have to say it again, it all comes back to the ending. It was fantastic! You'll probably see it coming but where Stine leaves the story off, you have to give him credit for it. No nice neat, tidy endings for him.

GOOSEBUMPS is a great series to get the young ones hooked on horror early. It'll help develop their appreciation for the spookier things in life. My entry into the horror realm wasn't so subtle (Poltergeist at age 4, The Exorcist at age 6) so by the time I got to reading these books, they were old hat and far beneath my horror comprehension. But for the better protected youth who needs their horror a touch watered down but not entirely forgiving, GOOSEBUMPS is the way to go and GHOST BEACH is an excellent addition to that classic series.
