The quality of this journal is very good. However, there are "inspirational quotes" on every page which I was not aware of, so I returned it. I was going to use this to write about my girlfriend and then give it to her, but it would be weird to have quotes printed on the pages. So, keep that in mind. If you don't mind the quotes, go for it. It smells nice too.

I purchased this journal as a gift, and when it arrived, I was disappointed at how small it is. Although the dimensions ARE listed on the description page, they are very small and I didn't see them when I ordered the journal.

It IS a nice journal, if you want something pocket-sized.

When my spiritual journey began to take on a new and deeper direction I sought a more disicplined prayer life. A part of that included keeping a prayer journal. I purchased this Christian inspirational journal expecting it to suit my needs. It exceeded them. It has incorporated all of the best elements of favorite Bibles. The leather has the look, feel and scent that one comes to associate with quality books, the pages are gold edged, a ribbon marker is included, the timeless "fish" symbol is engraved on the front and found at the bottom of each page. The scripture quotations at the bottom of each page are excellent entry points for one's daily reflections. This journal has become such an integral part of my prayer life that I purchased additional copies. If one is seeking a quality personal prayer journal you can't go wrong with this one. It is an exceptional value.

The journal is compact, with smooth, nice-smelling leather. Also, the pages have gold trim, so when your journal is closed, there is a nice contrast of gold and dark brown. I love books like that. It is very nice.

I ordered this journal based on the description and the picture displayed by Amazon. It arrived in a cardboard box bottom with a clear plastic lid. Inside the journal was shrink wrapped and so was in extremely good condition after shipping.

The leather, which you are unable to tell by the picture, is not soft or supple, but rather it is stiff and seemingly durable.

It has the word "Journal" on the spine along with the Christian fish icon. These are at the top of the spine. At the bottom of the spine are the initials of the company that manufactered it. These markings are etched into the leather and are not simply printed onto it.

On the front cover on the lower right corner is the Christian fish icon again. The front cover also has the small loop that the leather strap fastens through. There is no snap, button, or magnetic latch, just the simple leather strap inserted through the leather loop.

The leather strap is stiff like the cover of the journal and does sort of get in the way of writing when the journal is open. I imagine that over time and with constant rebending of it the opposite way, it will begin to stay out of the way.

The pages of the journal are gilded in gold on the edges and are lined. There is a small Christian fish icon on the bottom right hand side corner of every page front and back.

The first thirty pages have a Bible verse printed on the very bottom of them (front and back). After that the series of verses are repeated again in the same location.

On the back of the journal the only thing visible is the end of the strap which is stitched quite securely to the journal.

There is a copper colored ribbon bookmark attached at the top of the journal for marking your place as well.

The journal smells quite strongly of leather which I'm sure will dissipate over time, which is too bad as I enjoy the smell of new leather.

The journal measures 4 1/6" by 6 1/4" overall with the pages slightly smaller inside.

The box indicates that it is Eurobond Leather. I'm not sure what that means in terms of the type of binding and leather quality but I am overall satisfied with the journals qualities.

I gave it 4 stars because I was expecting a softer leather for the cover than what it has and because of the stiff strap that continually gets in the way.

If you are looking for a nice Christian themed journal that you can keep a variety of information in, (take sermon notes in, use as an address book, etc.) then this would be a worthy purchase.

It's the same size and color as my Pocket Size Classic NIV Bible by the same publisher -- Broadman and Holman Publishers. The Journal and Bible by the same publisher make nice traveling companions. Pages are designed with maximum room to write with no superfluous "stuff" getting in the way. There is a different Bible verse in the bottom margin of each page but done in fine print and not at all in the way. The binding is very rugged but too stiff to allow the journal to lay flat making writing somewhat awkward at times. I use calligraphy pens and ink for my entries and the paper for this purpose is generally good. The color and look of the pages are consistant. I own six of these journals, primarily because they will last a lifetime and they are very convenient to pack in a shoulder bag or briefcase.

This journal is beautiful, well-made and just the right size to carry with you - you will never miss any opportunity to pen your thoughts!

Being a missionary overseas I felt it would be a great thing to start and keep a journal. Not wanting to use just a yellow note pad I ordered this leather journal. It is beautiful and actually inspires you to write.

I was more than pleased with the superb quality of this journal. The leather cover, and binding are VERY nice, and the lined paper is of excellent weight and smoothness. The size of the journal makes it very portable, too. Love it!
