Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The game that spawned more than 15 others, Bomberman combines action with puzzle solving and has turned generations of regular gamers into mad (virtual) bombers. The frenzy returns for the Game Boy Advance in the NES Classics series.

As the title character, you blow up bricks on the field of play in an effort to find the door to the next level. At first, you can only lay one bomb down at a time. In addition to getting out of the way of your own bomb, you have an assortment of enemies you must blow up.

In each stage, you find power-ups that make clearing away blocks easier by extending your blast radius. However, if you're caught in your own bomb blast, you'll have to start the level over.

Features:

  • Famous puzzle/action blend
  • Demolish walls to clear stages
  • Save progress and high score

Product Description

Bomberman - Classic NES Series is the game that started the Bomberman series. Move through grids, using strategy to drop bombs at the right spots to destroy walls & enemies. Collect power-ups that increase the blast area of your bombs, or time the explosions perfectly. Wipe out all your enemies and move on the next arena, as the crazy bombing hero!

3.0 out of 5 stars Some Old Classics Never Die, June 16, 2004
This review is from: Classic NES Series: Bomberman (Video Game)
In 1987 Bomberman was a nice fun and addictive game. The "Classic NES Series" version is fun too but it feels as if something is missing.

Bomberman has a very simple concept to grasp. You're placed in an arena with monsters and you must destroy these monsters with bombs. There are also walls and such blocking your path that you can bomb. Bomberman has 50 levels so it'll keep you busy but its the same thing throughout all 50 levels. The enemies begin to move faster and faster as the levels increase.

The original version had long passwords to right down. Thankfully this version lets you save your game when you get to another level (kind of like the original NES Metroid in Metroid Zero/Prime). You can just as easily push the L and R buttons at the same time.

The problem with porting a classic is you port the problems too. Bomberman is fun but being 50 levels long makes the game rather boring and tedius. Especially considering you're dropped in virtually the same arena.

The other problem is that since the original Bomberman never had multiplayer, neither does this. Multiplayer is what really made Bomberman fun.

This is a nice Classic NES Game but to be frank, the original version wasn't much so why would this port of the original be any different? There are still fifty levels and it still gets boring in the middle. But at least unlike other games with the same basic level it has an end.

Easily this is for anyone who is a fan of Bomberman, and I mean a die-hard fan. I'm not a die-hard fan of the first Bomberman.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic that can never get old, June 4, 2004

This review is from: Classic NES Series: Bomberman (Video Game)
Bomberman is a game that I have never owned but have played it on many, many occasions. The idea of this one is the go around setting bombs to clear out walls and your enemies in order to find the door to the next level. It is challenging to me, and each level gets more and more difficult. To start out you can only set one bomb at a time, but I think later on you have more power. I am honestly not sure if the classic NES version had two-player head to head play, but even if this version does not include that feature, the game is still very addictive and has great replay value. In my opinion, the price is a little high for this title, but then again it is a small price to pay to have these classic NES titles available to play when and where you want to. I will more than likely buy this one(along with mario, ice climber)at some point, and I suggest the same to anyone out there that enjoys a good puzzle type game or classic NES gameplay in general. It should provide you with a lot of entertainment for a long time.
