About the Author

Michael G. LaFosse has been an origami artist for over 40 years, and is considered a leading authority and master of the art. An avid teacher, LaFosse confounded the Origamido Studio, a learning center and design studio dedicated to the art of origami, and the only place in the world specializing in hand papermaking for the origami artist. Author of many books and videotapes relating to paperfolding and hand papermaking, LaFosse produces fine paper art and commercial designs for a variety of international clients.

More About the Author

Michael G. LaFosse is widely regarded as one of the top masters of the art of origami. Together with Richard L. Alexander, he co-founded the Origamido® Studio, a commercial design and fine art studio. They have authored over 50 origami books and kits, and have produced over a dozen video DVD lessons for the paper folding enthusiast, and hand paper making for the origami artist.

LaFosse has taught origami in schools since 1972, and continues to work with teachers, artists, designers and performers who incorporate origami into their profession. He has lectured and demonstrated origami around the world, and has produced significant exhibits for the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, the Peabody-Essex Museum, the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, the Carrousel du Louvre, Paris, and Matsuya Ginza, Tokyo.

LaFosse is a biologist by training, and his best known works are realistic origami animals and plants, folded from special, archival papers developed and produced at the Origamido Studio. Michael and Richard also designs origami projects for beginner and intermediate level paper folders, and for the classroom. Since 2008, all of their origami books and kits include full-length video lessons on an accompanying DVD. This is a real boon for self-study materials for origami.

Mr. LaFosse is a seasoned and highly sought after presenter and origami teacher. Visit the Origamido® Studio's web site at www.origamido.com to learn more about Michael and Richard's programs for schools, libraries and museums.

Michael & Richard appear in the award-winning film, "Between the Folds", a documentary about modern origami artists and scientists. Visit www.betweenthefolds.com to see video clips, stills and interviews.

Format: Paperback
Package a 64-page book that introduces basic folding techniques with easily-followed instructions for 45 beginner's projects and 98 sheets of folding paper in a range of colors and patterns, and you have the perfect introductory gift item in Michael LaFosse's Classic Origami. The competitors just offer books with diagrams, whereas this entire program provides eye-catching projects and all the tools necessary to achieve them.

Format: Paperback
I bought this kit in order to restart my long forgotten hobby: origami. It was a disappointment. The book is ridiculously easy with very few interesting models. The only thing left to remember from this specific purchase are the 98 sheets of paper that I use with the other books I purchased. If you want to give this to a kid below 10 years old, go for it. If you are an adult, there are much better deals out there.

Format: Paperback
a book for kids, all the models super simple, and you can find most of them in other books, and a lot cheaper.
