Best Straight Mustard Ever,
By Mr Hulot (Maine and China) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Classic 500 gram Pommery Mustard Meaux Moutarde in Pottery Crock (Misc.)
When you say "mustard" this is the stuff you should mean-- fragrant, acidic, sublime. Unfortunately, the price reflects not only the wretched value of the dollar against the Euro, but a 100% tax imposed by the US government! Imposed during the Clinton years, the 100% tariff on French Mustard still remains on the books-- and it's more than high time it came off! Write your Senators and Reps-- I just picked up two jars in Paris at an overpriced shop there-- at under 10 Euros each!
If you can't wait, though, for the wheels of government to grind this mustard fine, exceedingly fine, then pony up the extra dosh and get some. Me, I'll be bringing a bigger suitcase next time, and considerably more than two jars home with me!

Authentic French mustard, same recipe used by the kings of France hundreds of years ago. There's only like 2 or 3 ingredients in here too, and its all natural.

I first tasted Pommery Mustard at a party in New York City, many years ago.
The Crock had been purchased from the world-famous "Zabars". Instantly, I was hooked! Finding my favorite mustard on Long Island has always been a problem. The only store that carried it in East Hampton has long since closed. How convenient it is that AMAZON carries it! Try heating some of this stuff up with a Ham Steak and some butter. You will be hooked, too!!!!

What Mustard is SUPPOSED to taste like,

Absolutely delicious on a simple grilled sausage; critical in certain recipes. This product bears no resemblance to the overprocessed, over-colored, over-sugared GLOP that passes for mustard in this country; the mustard seeds are whole and fill your mouth with flavor. Subtly different from Dijon mustard, which is made with white wine, Moutarde Meaux is made with vinegar and the added tang is just sublime... No pantry should be without it, and you will never, ever go back to the yellow stuff.

I love this mustard! It has a tangy flavor that enhances every food it is paired with. The appearance is unlike traditional yellow mustard, this mustard looks like tiny seeds with a small amount of clear liquid. The result is perfection - smooth with a bold flavor that is something like a "wasabi mustard." The thing is, it is REAL mustard, not a modern interpretation. I learned about this product at Costco one day on a sample table, and with Amazon's help I hope to always have this in my kitchen!
