Free sampler from Classic Rock magazine, September 29, 2008

One of the best free samplers I've even scored in over two decades of ... well of scoring free stuff of magazines! A bunch of great tunes here by bands that I didn't know about prior to hearing them here and it inspired me to get off my backside and onto the internet to track down some of the albums these numbers came from. Which when you think about is pretty much 100% the reason for such discs being splashed about into the midst of the general record buying public.
Well anyway, where to begin? How about at the start with Damone who's number Out Here All Night from their second studio effort is a great power pop song and very indicative of what the album of the same name is like. Koritni are up next and hearing this tune made me put their album on my wish list and get down to see them when they toured Australia. The great rockers keep coming with numbers by Kingbaby who lend an almost 70's feel to proceedings and Icelands Sign keep things flying along with Lift Me Up, a great tune. The mid section of the disc flows along - this is good highway listening - and the standout for me personally would be UK all girl rockers McQueen (their debut also went onto my wish list) and the album finishes up with more quality hard rock numbers like Lady Conniver by Kid Ego (pity about the band name there) and Breaking Me Down by US AOR alterna power pop whatever you call it mob Hydrogen whose full length also found it's way into my shopping cart.
If you can grab this cheap it will serve you well as a guide to where you should spend your hard rock dollar.
