The most awesomest Dave Macon collection going. It portrays this gentlemen at his best. It shows his wonderful talents as a solo entertainer as well as with the McGee Brothers and His Fruit Jar Drinkers (The Wills Brothers). If you are a Dave Macon Fan then I would highly reccomend this for your collection. If you are toying around with wanting to become a Dave Macon Fan then buy this Box Collection and it will deffinately make you a died in the wool for life Uncle Dave Macon Fan. It is a good collection thanks goes to the people who worked to make this Set. Dave's best.

So there is the "Keep Your Skillet Good and Greasy" Bear Family box set, featuring all of Dave's sides, a hardcover book, and good remastering. This set is $16.99 and simply has terrible sound. I have about 25 of Dave's sides from compilations from Yazoo, Old Hat, Dust-to-Digital, County, Smithsonian Folkways, and they are sound great. These are over compensated with way to much surface noise taken away and they all sound dull and suffocated. Save up the 300 (200 dollars on Rebel Records) for the Bear Family set. This is offensive to the great music of Dave Macon.
