Not the Classic Little Men,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Classic Starts: Little Men (Classic Starts Series) (Hardcover)
Buyers need to be aware this is an abridged book, "retold from the Lousia May Alcott original". The man who created this travesty explains, "Reading an abridged, newly crafted version of a classic novel can be the gentle introduction a child needs to explore the characters and storyline without the frustration of difficult vocabulary and complex themes." In other words, it is a dumbed down version which will not challenge the young reader. It has none of the depth of the classic and leaves out many of the events completely. What a disappointment!

The Little Women series really drew me in... i fell in love with the characters and story line, and i love the wholesomeness of this story, even tho sometimes it takes a minute to understand since it was written so long ago, and it's written differently than most books that are written now a days... love it

raising boys,

when youve got 12 boys and only 1 girl there are times she feels picked on. you can give the boys jobs to strengthen them and develop their skills as is shown in this book, and teach them to be proud of their accomplishments. but the girl needs to know how to fit in. in the case of the astronaut in expedition 18 she was comfortable with the boys and became a spacewalker. inside this book a 1800s version of the easy bake oven gave her cooking skills and a way to bargain with her brothers
