Classic Step is designed for the advanced exerciser experienced with step workouts and hungry for choreography. The instructors, Kari Anderson and Jay Blahnik, are both well-known fitness leaders and instructor trainers. They alternate teaching segments so you get two different yet compatible styles. Both are excellent instructors, presenting several layers of variations, building from basic to complex. You won't get bored, and you can tailor the workout to your ability level and preference. Each pattern is presented first in its easiest components, then embellished with more complicated variations, turns, and direction changes. By the end, you've accumulated eight different and elaborate 16-count patterns, repeated on each side. Warning: if you're not accustomed to complex step choreography, you may get lost as early as the warm-up! The instructors emphasize that you can stay with the simpler version of each move, but it would have been helpful if one of the class members had done so to guide us--all of them do the advanced variations.
