great workout, but not for beginners,
By A Customer
This review is from: Classic Step [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have been doing step aerobics ever since it came out and I THOUGHT that I was pretty advanced until I tried doing this video. The first time I tried it I was so frustrated after only 5 minutes that I stopped the tape and did another one. I decided to watch the tape the whole way through before atempting it again. I've been doing it faithfully for 2 weeks now and it is an excellent workout. Its just the steps that are hard to learn. Don't let this scare you away though, if you're an advanced stepper and are bored with the ordinary videos that only include basic, v, turn, and straddle steps than you will love this video. It does asume that you know all of the basics though and goes right into complex combinations and new variations on steps i had never seen in any of the health clubs. I don't think I will be getting bored with this any time soon!

Awesome workout,

This is an awesome workout. I am an intermediate stepper and found this to be incredibly challenging. It takes a few times thru to get all the moves down, but once you do it's really fun. Also, Kari and Jay are terrific instructors. They cue really well and the fact that they are "tag-teaming" makes the workout fly. Before you know it, you're stetching out. Great addition to any collection.I hope that this is the first of more videos together with them.

A true celebration of step!,

This workout is the best! I've been stepping for 8 years and many routines are too short (30 minutes or less) or too boring. Step up, step down, step up, step down. I knew Jay and Kari already - I had one of Kari's workouts and Jay was in one of my Jane Fonda step tapes. I read a review that said it was a celebration of step, and I was inspired to get it. I watched the tape (as I ate dinner!). And then I gave it a whirl. I couldn't get all of the steps on my first try. But the second time I tried it, I could do it. It was a blast. It's like a dance. And it's a challanging workout for body AND mind. In my collection of over 20 workout tapes, this is the only one that I never find myself saying, "How many more reps until I can go on to the next move?" I wish Kari and Jay would do another step tape as fun and interesting as this one!

For The Advanced Stepper Only!!,

This review is from: Classic Step [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This step workout is only for advanced steppers, if you are a beginner you will only get frustrated and give up. It's also a challenge for intermediate steppers, which I consider myself to be. The first time I attempted this workout, I had to stop the tape and rewind it a few times just to get the first part of the routine. I then spent another day rewinding and practicing the second part. After three days, I finally got the whole routine and now it's so much fun and such a great challenge that is was worth all the effort I put into learning it!! Don't get discouraged or intimidated at first because if you put your mind to it, you will be able to do it too!! The only disadvantage of this tape (as another reviewer pointed out as well) is there isn't any one of the steppers doing the modified version of the routine. Kari, Jay and the three other steppers all step at the most advanced level of the exercise. That I found quite frustrating, especially in the beginning. Now however it doesn't bother me. This is a great cardiovascular, intense, complex, step workout guaranteed to get you heart rate up and your feet and mind moving!! I highly recommend it to intermediate through advanced steppers; beginners should not even attempt it.

YOU NEED TO BE ADVANCED TO DO THIS VIDEO,
By
This review is from: Classic Step [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I love step aerobics and I own about 10 step tapes. Even though this video seems like so much fun, it is VERY frustrating to do the first few times. The cues start out great in the simple moves, but then convert to advanced moves at a pace that is way to hard to keep up. I would have loved it if one of the extra steppers would have continued doing the simpler moves. It must have taken them many, many hours of practicing the choreography before these professionals could have done them smoothly. I actually became so frustrated that I had to stop the tape which has never happened before. The tag teaming is a great idea, the moves and the music are hip, but definetly for advanced steppers and/or professionals. I will attempt master it eventually, but I am disappointed overall.

AEROBIC STEP VIDEO" CLASSIC STEP",

This video as I found is for the advanced steppers. When I first bought it I had no clue what fitness level it was. It is very energetic and has variable choreography to keep you on your toes. I would reccomend it. It is just to advanced for me being a beginner stepper. The instructers are also very motivating.

Classic Step review,

I love this video! Most exercise videos get boring very quickly, but this one was so varied that there was no time for boredom. It was complicated and somewhat frustrating at first, but definately not boring. I hope this duo makes more exercise videos. They are great!
