Editorial Reviews

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) was started in 1933 and has grown to become the biggest power company in the United States. This film is about the construction of dams in the Tennessee Valley to help farm irrigation and prevent floods. Table Of Contents: (1) The Valley of the Tennessee (1940s) - A very good piece of American developmental history, this film shows the reasoning behind the implementation of the dam system by the Tennessee Valley Authority. This video includes interviews with farmers from the area and a before and after showcase of the benefits of the dams. This geographic area was at a low-point during the Great Depression, and the TVA really helped turn it around economically and bring about modernization for millions of Americans - 25 Minutes

This review is from: Classic Tennessee Valley Authority TVA Film DVD: 1930s New Deal Farm Floods History & Dam Electricity Construction Video w/ Farming & Agriculture Dams from the Great Depression (DVD)
This is a nice historical video about agricultural development in the Tennessee valley and how control of regional flooding led to economic growth. Told in a story fashion as opposed to a completely informative documentary, so it can be shown to younger people as well.
