Wow -- I bought this to use at a bridal shower, and I must say that I was really surprised at just how, to put it bluntly, JUNKY the game is. Not only are the booklets flimsy and cheaply made, they are full of spelling and punctuation errors as well! There are also LOTS of repeat questions for whatever reason...

Not that I was totally surprised, but many of the questions are sexist or manage to force you to put down your partner's physical appearance, lack of tidiness, sexual ability ect. ect... No matter how funny those things might be to some players, like all jokes they get old after awhile, and with this game it does not take long.

Also, if you're offended by brazen sexism and heterosexism, this game is not for you... I found it odd how many times the game managed to start questions off with "If your husband were gay..." or "If your husband were a cross dresser..." not to mention the sexist and out of date questions regarding gender roles... I always think the most interesting questions are the ones that push your limits as to what you know about your partner, not how many times you can comment on their big butt or small package.

Honestly, I feel like I am coming off as a humorless P.C. freak, but I really am not -- I love to play funny board games just as much as the next person! :) Like I said in the title, this game would be much more fun if you made up your own questions and used a marker and some paper... Even if you love the Newlywed game in all it's sexist and depreciating glory, you are bound to at least be disappointed with the lack of quality of the game itself...

A group of my married friends played this game on New Year's Eve and we barely noticed that it was almost midnight. This game asks some random questions that very few people would know about their spouses but nothing that would cause too much embarrassment.

We has such a good time that we have played it over and over again with other couples. The more couples involved the better the game is. The only problem is after a few plays you tend to get some of the same questions over again and then it is not as much fun.

This game is played much like the television show was - a moderator asks the questions while half of the couple is out of the room or otherwise preoccupied - then the couples reconvene and the spouse must guess what his or her sweetie has written down as the answer.

From asking about your spouses favorite color to the most outrageous place you have made whoopee - you come away with sore tummy muscles from laughing so hard and a new appreciation for your spouse (if not a few new facts about them that you did not know previously).

Funny to the core. __________________________________________________

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun if you plan on playing once, April 14, 2003

I got this game as a wedding gift, and I'll admit, it's fun. But as previous reviewers have said, the questions do need updating. That and the question booklet has about 50 questions in it. Total. There are so few questions that my wife and I quickly got bored with it. When friends come over and want to play, we have to skip to the last questions in the booklet since they're the only ones we haven't read.

The game has decent questions and a nice box. I assumed that, like other games packaged in similar boxes, it would come with a box of cards with questions. I was wrong, it came with what looks like 8.5x11 paper stapled in the middle to make a booklet with questions. Does it make the questions any worse? No, but I was disappointed. We used it for a game-show style activity for a group and I had to go through 20-40 questions before I found 5 that were appropriate for the group.

Personally, I found the game's subtle innuendo 100% more entertaining than the crass,..., shock treatment I think other reviewers must have been hoping for.

This game's a keeper. It's simple, but good, family-style fun. Heck, play it even if you're an old married couple. You'll really find out how much you know about each other. You might even learn a few things!

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for parties!, May 9, 2007

I've only used this game once and it was the hit of the evening! My recently married nephew and his bride played against his parents, another couple of relatives and my husband and I were bamboozled into it as well. I was suppose to be the M.C. Oh well! It was a lot of fun and when your spouse misses an answer he should have known, somehow smacking him with the answer board is very gratifying! Just like in the show!

It's a great idea for an anniversary party or even a bar-b-que with friends.
Some questions should be banned though, it could lead to angry couples. Although, that is entertaining to watch, as long as they kiss and make-up!

I think watching the show is more fun than this game. Not enough questions to make it a game you can play often. And, no Bob Eubanks!

4.0 out of 5 stars great party entertainment, April 11, 2007
I ordered this game to be played by some couples that knew each other well, as well couples that were new to the group. It certainly gave everyone a big laugh and brought the group closer together with the knowledge of fun facts about everyone's relationship. A definite hit!

This is a great game, for married couples of all ages. There are some questions you may not want to answer in front of your parents, so beware when choosing your competitors! You don't need to be newlyweds to enjoy it though!

The game is fun and exciting. Some of the questions can cause arguments or get you in trouble with your spouse or significant other. The more the couples the better. Enjoy.
