Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Classic Toy Commercials is a 14 Film Shorts on DVD...Film 1-This is footage of a prototype for a road-racing toy that was never manufactured. It was similar in operation to conventional slot car sets, but without the slots, or motors in the cars.Film 2-This commercial (apparently from when J.C Pennys was just called "Pennys") is a good look back on the history of toy commercials, the brands aren't mentioned which is something no TV ad would omit today, and the whole "white room" theme seems wonderfully outdated. Film 3- This is an advertisement for a game that challenged kids to perform various "stunts" like waddle like a penguin or build a tower all while racing against a monkey timer.Film 4-You may remember it (Loop-A-Lot toy commercial) if you're in your mid-40's.Film 5-Insanely bizarre commercial with a catchy jingle.Film 6-A demonstration ad for a physical card game in the tradition of Twister.Film 7- Television commercial for Aurora Stunt and Drag Race toy cars.Film 8-Teaser for the film 'The Viking Five', made with Playmobil toy figures.Film 9-A fascinating look inside the Mattel Toy Company factory in its early fifties, pre-Barbie days.Film 10-Late 1960s commercial Ideal's creepy looking Velvet and Beautiful Crissy dolls.Film 11- The spot's pop-art "sound effect" graphics ("Crash!" "Pow!") are clearly influenced by TV's "Batman."Film 12- REAL shocker of a fun car racing set is advertised here.Film 13- (1951) Instructs children how to care for toys, clothing and other property; to have a definite place to keep belongings, and how to store and handle possessions properly.Film 14- (1960) Cereal commercial targeted at children of the space age.
