Stellar -- one of the best jazz albums EVER, March 9, 2005

I am shocked to be the first person to review this album, because it is so good you'd think that others would be jumping on the bandwagon! I loved "Volume One," and this is one of the few sequels that is even better than the first. Hazeltine's tune selection is impeccable, and his originals complement the standards beautifully. I guess I am biased, because he is my favorite pianist in the world, but how can you not love a pianist who is so bluesy, tasteful, lyrical, exuberant, and swings hard, to boot? I never get tired of this album -- I could listen to it 24 hours a day. And the rhythm section is on another level, too -- Hazeltine, Washington, and Hayes have terrific empathy. If you love great piano trios, don't miss this one!
