5.0 out of 5 stars My all time favorite!, August 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Two Classic Volumes From Robert R Mccammon Boys Life Gone South (Hardcover)
I have read more books than I will ever remember but I know for sure that this is my favorite book of them all. I do not know how many copies that I have purchased to give to friends and found that they felt the same and also purchased copies to pass on. McCammon will capture your heart with Boy's Life and resurrect emotions that you have long forgotten.

5.0 out of 5 stars His two best in one book!, January 12, 2005
This review is from: Two Classic Volumes From Robert R Mccammon Boys Life Gone South (Hardcover)
If you really want a few GREAT reads, this is the book. I've read a good bunch of McCammon's books and these two are by far my favorites; on top of that, "Boy's Life" is one of the top books I've EVER read -- REALLY GOOD!! I generally prefer paperbacks because I can stuff them in a pocket and take them with me, but the value of this two-in-one hardcover was enough for me to get it. Both stories HIGHLY recommended!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Boys Life Grabbed me and Took Me Back to My Childhood!, August 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Two Classic Volumes From Robert R Mccammon Boys Life Gone South (Hardcover)
This is the first book I have read by Robert McGammon and I was hooked. I could not put the book down. I laughed, I cried, I loved all the characters in this book and the relationship between the boy and his father is wonderful!! The fantasty sequences are outstanding. I sent a copy of this book to my son and daughter and I think it should be required reading for every highschool student. A Boys Life will sit on the shelf next to my copy of "The Stand" by Stephen King and I will read it again and again, as I have done with "The Stand".

5.0 out of 5 stars Boy's Life was the BOMB. Made me a fan of McGammon., February 6, 1999

I read Boy's Life and couldn't put it down. I passed it on to so many people. It made me a Robert McGammon fan. I have read all of his books. My other two favorites are "Swan Song" and "Mine." McGammon's books are so well written, they hold your interest from start to finish. Where in the world is Robert McGammon????

5.0 out of 5 stars A slice of life through the magical eyes of a young boy., May 4, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Two Classic Volumes From Robert R Mccammon Boys Life Gone South (Hardcover)
I took "Boys Life" along with me on a recent trip to Europe as something to read in case I couldn't sleep. I ended up so enthralled with the story, that I found myself hoping for sleepless nights and long train rides! This was the most amazing and compelling book that filled 600 pages without sex or drugs stuffed in your face like so many others. I intend to read more of McCammon's works as soon as possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better Than 5 Stars, May 5, 2011

It has been many years since a book has caused tears but even at the second reading, this one did it in Boy's Life. It is an excellent story with much loved characters. Mr. McCammon is one of my all-time favorite authors & he is a "storyteller" of extraordinary talent. Gone South is also a very good story & one that I would love to read a sequel to.
Thanks to Mr. McCammon for many many hours of wonderful reading.

Folks - if you love these books, you better grab them while you can. Just read the news that Robert McCammon - the best seller author of these books is retiring. He has two new works and no one to publish them - so think he is just fed up and retiring...Check out the web site about him: ...These are awesome books and a terrific writer - he will be missed...

5.0 out of 5 stars Read on spiritual, story line, and psychological level., June 29, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Two Classic Volumes From Robert R Mccammon Boys Life Gone South (Hardcover)
This author was really just getting everything together - these two works were his best yet - with Gone South probably the best book I have read in years. Where is the author???Is he still living - was he the main character in Gone South who was dying of a brain tumor??? He has published nothing since this time. How come. He was starting to be called the new Faulkner of the South - he will be sorely missed.
