Editorial Reviews

Water is such an integral part of our day-to-day life and survival, yet it is often overlooked. This DVD is a special educational compilation of four valuable water films and movies from the 1940s and 50s. These are great films and the information still holds up today in terms of scientific relevance and classroom learning. Table Of Contents: (1) The Adventures of Junior Raindrop (1948) -This film aims to show the benefits of good watershed management. It features a young raindrop named Junior, personified as the narrator of this film, who falls to Earth and becomes a "delinquent hoodlum" due to bad water management. The raindrop joins a "gang" of other raindrops and they cause all sorts of trouble. - 8 minutes (2) City Water Supply (1941) - This Encyclopedia Britannica film talks about both the general scientific importance of water to living things and also shows the ins and outs of New York City's water-supply system. This movie includes footage and info about city water-supplies, aqueducts, water tunnels, lakes and watersheds - 10 minutes (3) Water (1953) -This John Kieran film shows how valuable water is to life all around the world...a unique scientific film from the 1950s - 10 minutes (4) Pipeline to the Clouds (1951) - This is a very good film that delves into how water is used, processed and delivered to our taps in American communities. A good mix of scientific explanation of water sources and hands-on "what can we do to make a difference" answers makes this a well-rounded educational film - 25 minutes
