5.0 out of 5 stars Brand collection bargain
I have never read any Max Brand before getting this great collection for my Kindle. I am not much of a western genre fan. I have read a lot of Louis Lamour, but not much else that I have liked. Max Brand keeps his stories pretty simple, not a lot of chronological switching and other gimickery. He focuses on the characters and their reactions to the events that unfold. His...

1.0 out of 5 stars Like watching paint dry.....
As an avid western genre reader (L'Amour, Johnstone, etc) and new Kindle owner I was thrilled to try this book. However, I soon realized I don't like Brand's writing style. Tried every story....they went on and on with no real point to the stories. Glad it was a free book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brand collection bargain, January 8, 2009
This review is from: Classic Westerns: 13 Novels by Max Brand in a single file (Samizdat Edition with Active Table of Contents), improved 2/27/2011 (Kindle Edition)
His stories are like listening to my grandfather tell of some event that he was a part of. I have read about 7 of this collection of novels so far and each one has been like taking a journey into the old west. If you haven't tried Brand, this collection is an absolute bargain. Good readin' pardner.

Ok, I screwed up. Disregard the below comment that the bundle didn't include "The Untamed". Dummy me was actually looking at the table of contents for the 1st included book, "Alcatraz". It is Friday and I've had a couple.

This review is not for the books themselves but the contents of the bundle. Purchased this 13 pack and it is a deal but I mainly purchased it for 1 title, "The Untamed", an excellent book I read more than 35 years ago and have been looking for it again ever since. Was disappointed the title was not among the books listed as shown. Max Brand does write good books though.
