5.0 out of 5 stars Can't believe I have the honor August 9, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I have the honor of being the first American to "review" this wonderful album! I'm late in life and have been studying accordion for the last three years. I think I understand the potential of this instrument, but frankly practically none of the previous live performances or recordings I've heard yet come anywhere close. I mean the potential of the instrument beyond its folky anyone-can-play tradition. I mean the potential beyond lots of notes very fast or sounding sort of like an orchestra. Sidorova's Classical Accordion is about the range and beauty of what an accordion can do in really great hands. Some of the pieces are old classical (Bach, Scarlatti), some contemporary. All are solo except one in a quartet with strings. All are beautifully expressive. Now if only I could play just Mozart's 12 variations a third as finely as she does before I or my accordion die. Yo-yo, O'Connor, it's time you danced with Sidorova.
