5.0 out of 5 stars Best Mozart CD for Babies
The music on this CD is very relaxing for both babies and moms. I use it successfully as a cue for my baby when it is time to go to sleep. It's such a great CD I give it as a gift to all my new parent friends. I have several classical baby CDs (Mozart, Bach, etc), but this one is by far the best and my daughter's favorite.

I am a mother of a five year old and a three year old and I love Mozart. My five year old has listened to Mozart CD's during her naps since birth, but I used to wish for a specially-compiled Mozart CD designed for sleeping that didn't have any sudden loud passages. I was hoping that this CD was the one I've been looking for, but it was a big disappointment. First of all, it reminds me of classical "elevator music". The lackluster musical performances on this CD lack richness and depth. The whole reason that Mozart and other classical music is supposed to stimulate the brain is due to the intricacies in the music, and this version just doesn't have it! Also, even though it is called a "Sleepy-Time" CD, there are parts in it that wake my son up every time. I had to listen to it through the baby monitor while I slept (we play classical music at night, too, because he is autistic and we figure that any extra brain stimulation is good!)and it bothered me while I tried to sleep. So while I think it is a great idea to play classical music to help kids sleep (it drowns out other noises that might wake them up and is good for them, too!), I would definitely look into other ones. I have had better luck with The Mozart Effect Music for Children, Volume 2-Relax, Daydream, and Draw and the Mozart Effect - Music for Healing. They both seem to be good quality, relaxing music for sleeping.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hideous! It's not even performed CORRECTLY!, May 29, 2004

For crying out loud! Not only does this third rate amateur use a synthesizer to commit his evil crime against Mozart, but he can't even play the notes correctly! Thankfully, I didn't waste my money on this one. Unfortunately, my local library did, so I could witness first hand the butchering of truly fine classical music. Yeah, sure, so baby can fall asleep to it. Kids can also eat junk food too, but that doesn't mean it's good for them. Do your children and yourselves a favor, and go out and get some Mozart that is actually PERFORMED by gifted artists, not chopped and hacked out by a capitalist with a tin ear.

1.0 out of 5 stars Oppenheimer reinvents the bomb, April 28, 2001
This review is from: Classical Baby: Mozart - Sleepy Time (Audio CD)
In truth, this recording deserves negative stars. It might be the worst interpretation I've ever heard of Mozart. You will not be doing your baby any favors by playing it for him or her before bedtime. It is difficult to ruin Mozart, but Max Oppenheimer does a good job by plunking it out on synthesizer and performing way under tempo.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy the real thing - not this CD, December 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Classical Baby: Mozart - Sleepy Time (Audio CD)
I have a 3-yr-old autistic son who loves classical music. This CD is not real music - it's simulated. The description indicates various artists - there is only one. The only reason it rates 1 star is that it's Mozart. My advice would be to buy a CD with orchestra, violin or piano!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kids won't go to sleep without it!, June 5, 2006
This review is from: Classical Baby: Mozart - Sleepy Time (Audio CD)
My son started going to sleep listening to this CD everynight over five years ago. He wouldnt go to sleep without it. Recently I put the CD into the player one night for my daughter, now she wont go to bed without it...and my son says he still loves it. Unfortunately the CD has been through alot of wear & tear, so I just came online to find a new one because my kids love it, and it makes bedtime...just a bit easier!

5.0 out of 5 stars great album for infants, March 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Classical Baby: Mozart - Sleepy Time (Audio CD)
I bought this fabulous album two weeks ago, and since then my baby has been sleeping like an angel. Before, he usually cried 10 to 5 minutes then fell to sleep, even he was drowsy when put on bed; after I got music, I put him on the crib even when he was full awake but it is time for bed, it took him afew minutes to fall sleep and he did not cry for a second. It is so effective. I like the music very much.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a night at the symphony but great baby sleepytime music, December 17, 2004
This review is from: Classical Baby: Mozart - Sleepy Time (Audio CD)
I think this is a great CD! It greatly relaxes both my son and myself when nap/bedtime approaches. I think it's beautiful -- toned down for baby but not cheesy. However, keep in mind that the music is altered for a soft, lullaby-like effect. If you adore Mozart and can't stand to see his music altered in this way this CD is not for you. The one problem I can think of is a particular track that is a bit jarring at the beginning. However, after recognizing this I began to turn the overall volume down which helps. Overall, this is one of my favorite CDs and I enjoy hearing it whenever I pass my son's room.

5.0 out of 5 stars great music, but not a substitute for good parenting!, March 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Classical Baby: Mozart - Sleepy Time (Audio CD)
This album is beautiful and certainly has a soothing effect on mother and baby! However, it worries me that it would be used as a mother replacement. Babies need to be held, rocked, nursed, and cuddled up next to a human being, not left in a cold dark crib with a cd! We use this CD as part of our bed time routine. Candles, lavender oil, Classical Baby, and nursing in mommy and daddy's bed until our little one drifts to sleep.
