Useful to clear up cultural confusions,
By Saritha Komatireddy (Columbia, Missouri) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Classical Dictionary of India (Hardcover)
Although it wasn't exactly what I expected, this dictionary is pretty good when it comes to defining cultural terms and names. I use it to decipher lyrics to classical music, and it gives pretty good depth to the concept behind the word. The biggest difficulty is being able to spell and pronounce the word, since transliterating hindi and sanskrit lexicon can be done in many ways. I guess this is the best it can get, though, since it is your only option. In a nutshell: It's useful but sometimes tedious.
