The german magazines in which these photos were published at the beginning of the 20th century are interesting in their obscurity; pictures from an other world - even if the images themselves had little artistic quality.
This book lacks this charm and unfortunately does not compensate for this: the printing is poor and there is no text about the context in which these photos were published.

This book has a lot of pictures and the printing is good. In some cases, the quality of the original photograph limits the quality of the reproduced print.

For people who are familiar with Eakins, Muybridge, Von Gloeden, and other famous early photographers of male nudes, these images are arranged well and properly lit. The content is R-rated, so if you prefer your statues without fig leaves, this book is disappointing. For people who want suggestive vintage erotica, the images are titillating, but the title implies more prurience. A better title might be "Classical Male Buttocks and Thighs: 1900-1920."

I gave this to my girlfriend as a gag gift for her birthday and she said that she loved it..........I really wouldn't know....but anyway.......anyone who buys it, enjoy it like she did......
