This review is from: Classical Music Fakebook (Order No. Am65319) (Paperback)
Ever since learning the American Songbook (Berlin, Kern, Gershwin, Porter, etc.), I've thought of myself strictly as a music "hobbyist" rather than a legit "pianist" (piano player is the operative word). But there are times when I miss my long-lost legit chops, especially when a formal occasion calls for "classical" themes (preludes for church weddings are at the top of the list). This book has come to my rescue perhaps more than my "New Real" collection, whether I'm playing solo or duo (usually with a guitar or flute).

It's neither a thick tome nor pocket-sized "little" book but medium-sized, as readable as it is durable. Sure, there are plenty of mistakes--but if you're familiar with the melodies and have an ear for chords, none that aren't immediately correctable on the fly. Reading the reviews of other classical fake books, I'm finding the same complaints about accuracy, so there's little justification for being overly harsh on this one. Anyone who is that fastidious has no business playing classical music out of a fake book.
