Solves the Alhambra mystery!,

In 1944, Edith Muller claimed that all the 17 wallpaper groups were found in Alhambra. Unfortunately, her paper only contained 11 of them. Grunbaum and Shephard found two more, and finally in 1987 Perez-Gomez found the missing 4. The book includes pictures of all the 17 wallpaper groups from Alhambra. It should however be pointed out that in his review of the paper by Perez-Gomez in Mathematical Reviews, Coxeter disputes the p3m1 example. |
