ALICE COOPER IS OUTSTANDING!,
By
This review is from: Classicks (Audio CD)
I bought this album because I had heard a couple of Alice's songs and thought they were pretty good so I bought a classicks album and said "WOW!" Alice Cooper is amazing in singing with his psycho personality. This album consists of Alice's all-time hits and some of his famous classicks LIVE! This greatest hits collection is the best out of all the other Alice greatest hits CD's. The major hits of the album includes the famous deadly, "Poison." Also one of Alice's most evil hits, "Feed My Frankenstein." The CD also consists of Alice's great ballads such as "Stolen Prayer", "It's ME", and a live version of his classic "Only Women Bleed." The second half consists of six life tracks recorded in Birmingham, AL in 1989. The live tracks are so INTENSE and LOUD that Alice makes you feel like you're actually at the concert. The intense heavy metal track, "Under My Wheels" sounds great on stage. Another great live version is "No More Mr. Nice Guy." The greatest live piece is Alice's all-time greatest hit, "School's Out." The song is 100x better than the orginal studio recording. Last but not least is Alice's remake of Jimi Hendrix's "Fire". Alice did a great job on vocals for this. He sang it in such a trashy tone just like Jimi and it turned out great. If you're interested in buying a CD of Alice Cooper, start with this so you can get a great taste of how he sounds. The album has hits from the 70's - Present. Every time I'm intereted in buying a CD of a new artist, I buy a hits collection to listen to their overall sound. This album definately does more than just that. Alice gets you HOOKED! This is the first Alice CD I bought and now I have over ten in just half a year. There's your're example of how easily any rock fan can get hooked on Alice Cooper. ROCK ON ALICE!

This is a good CD definitely worth buying if you are new to the world of Alice. However, I am not a big fan of best of/greatest hits album if you are like me and already have all of his studio albums anyway. There is some live tracks on this album which is pretty cool plus a cover of the Jimi Hendrix tune Fire but not much you haven't heard before making this a good album but I'd spend my money buying other Alice first.

Not all that Classic Alice Cooper,

While I like this CD, I do have two complaints about it. First, it has six live recordings. Second, the "classics" are principally live, with Alice Cooper's 80s hits not being live. Unfortunately, if you purchased the much better "Mascara and Monsters" CD you will also need this one because it includes several songs that were missed in that collection, particularly "Hey Stoopid" and "Feed My Frankenstein." Have you ever noticed how many greatest hits collections always seem to miss at least one bona fide hit, which means you have to buy at least two greatest hits collections to get them all. Such is the case with both "Mascara and Monsters" and "Classicks."I remain a big Alice Cooper fan, but unless you are a fan of live music I would avoid this particular collection. I really did not care for the mixture of live and studio recordings.

I just love Alice Cooper,

I would have to say my picks of this CD are "Poison", "Love's a Loaded Gun", "House of Fire", and "Lost in America". Cooper delivers pure hard rock with a good rhythm and melody, instead of just a screamfest as so many other metal bands do.

Good for those only wanting his better songs,

Not being much of an Alice Cooper fan but really liking a few of his songs I found this album satisfied my needs quite well. The huge song Poison is on here along with other great songs. I would have preferred none of them were live and were still originals but the live performances aren't bad. This is the only Alice Cooper album I own and would recommend it for others who just want a few of his good songs.

Best of the Late era studio hits and some Live oldies,
By

Alice Cooper / Classicks: This one has 8 `hits' from Alice's work in the late 1980's to the mid 1990's. The album then has 6 good Live oldies. The whole thing concludes with a cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Fire". This CD is worthwhile for the fan of his earlier works (meaning they already have the bands early albums) and who want a fair collection of the later hits (which this CD covers). Overall, this is an interesting collection of songs. Four Stars

Classicks,

`Classicks' offers a `best of' collection of Alice Cooper with a solid mix of studio and live tracks. He had to do it this way as the record company at the time wouldn't allow the use of some of the older studio tracks, so he reproduced them from live concerts and this album is the result.
This opens with `Poison' which is still an awesome rock track, despite my repeated playing and it's popularity on radio stations. This is quickly followed by `Hey Stoopid' with that great crowd chanting intro. The live tracks are great and I adore `Under My Wheels', `Schools Out' (which is probably better live with the audience reactions) and this finishes with a great cover of Hendrix's `Fire'. All in all a good blend of tracks. This gives us plenty of that eighties `hair rock' Alice is loved for and the guitar squeals and his sneering vocals fit together perfectly. There is a newer `best of' brought out since this, but for the mix of studio and live tracks I still grab this and blast it out loud and proud. Harder to find these days but well worth a try. Feel free to check out my blog which can be found on my profile page.

The songs on this cd is some good old fashioned 70's rock. You get songs about sex, heartbreak, love, confusion and much more. My only complaint is that some of the songs are live and I don't really care for live music. If the tracks that were live were the studio version then I would have given this cd 5 stars. So if you don't want to hear some of his songs live then you should get another best of by Alice Cooper, but if hearing some his songs live doesn't bother you then go ahead and get this cd.

Fab, I adore Alice Cooper and this is a great compilation of his songs. It makes you want to get up and bang your head! It's also great to play when you are driving on an open road with all the windows down and let the air blow your hair!
