According to The Listener's Bible web site, the following is the product description of Classics of the Christian Faith:

Five Classics that Still Ignite Hearts and Minds.

Here in one collection, these five classics - each in an easy to listen to narration with an introduction to set up its moment in history - are vividly brought to life by master storyteller, Max McLean. Next to the Bible, these classics have had the most impact on the Christian faith.

What Christian Leaders are saying:

* Pilgrim's Progress -- one of the greatest works ever penned. This unique production will captivate and encourage you. Ravi Zacharias

* I love these presentations of the classics by Max McLean ... Luther's Here I Stand is my favorite. R. C. Sproul

* Max McLean's Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God has struck a match in my heart to share the Gospel with urgency and clarity! Max has breathed new life into the timeless words of Jonathan Edwards! Joni Eareckson Tada

* In McLean's The Method of Grace we see how the great preachers of the Great Awakening brought the Gospel into connection with people's hearts not just their heads. Tim Keller

* Augustine meant for his spiritual autobiography to be read aloud. Max McLean's moving rendition of St. Augustine's Conversion sends chills down the listener's spine. Quentin J. Schultze, Ph.D.

The Conversion of St. Augustine (397) - After the conversion of St. Paul, the dramatic conversion of St. Augustine - as he himself tells it in his Confessions - is the most significant conversion story in Christian history. (1 CD)

Here I Stand by Martin Luther (1521) - Luther was called to defend his writings against the established church.

Max McLean brings new meaning and life to the sermons. I finally understood Pilgrim's Progress by listening to his rendition of this classic Christian allegory.

In the days where Christianity is now being watered down, God being seen as just another of many "pals", this set brings things back in perspectives.
It must and will most definitely shake off the emasculated nature that is so prominent even inside the "Church". Thank God for the powerfull truths of the words of these men.
A must have for all God-fearing people, and those ardent skeptics of christianity.
Excellent dramatisation and narrative work by Max McLean.

I first heard Max Mclean live at a Ligonier conference reciting from memory several chapters from Scripture and it was as if I were listening to one of the apostles in the flesh. Mclean has excellent diction, timing, and voice control. In this set of timeless reformed classics - Mclean does not disappoint. I have listened to all these CD's several times and both the messages are preserved so that what these great reformers did in their day continues to live on through Mclean. It's really helpful to listen sometimes rather than read - and all these classics were originally spoken, so it helps you to let the message percolate in your soul, as Christian History and Theology sink in to bring the meshing of theology impacting culture to life. I hope that these CD's inspire more of the same from Mclean or others like him for the future. I give 4 stars simply because Mclean has the type of voice you either really love, or don't - I happen to really like his voice, and especially like the authority he conveys when he speaks - it's sort of like listening to E.F. Hutton - when he speaks - everybody listens.

Classics of the Christian Faith is an excellent series. If you don't have time to sit and read but want to "read" some of the Christian Classics, this is the way to go. Max McLean does a great job. I would and do recommend this series to all. We all should keep up with what the influential leaders of our faith have to say.
