Aerosmith - 'Classics Live! Volume 2' (Sony),
By
This review is from: Classics Live 2 (Audio CD)
Heard that most if not all the eight(8) cuts on this CD was recorded live at a reunion gig that took place on New Year's Eve,1984. 'Classics Live! Vol.2' is decent, but certainly nothing to flip out over. The sound quality is,well good FOR a live recording as such. Tunes that lured me into keeping this disc handy for repeated spins were "Back In The Saddle", "Walk This Way", "Draw The Line" and "Toys In The Attic" (this song has always had special meaning to me). Worth checking out.

All of the best songs!!,

Aerosmith's successor to the weaker Classics Live has outdone itself. Unlike the first CD, Classics Live II was mastered by the band, so it has better sound quality. It features an AWESOME array of great songs, including Movin Out, where Steven says "no one knows the way but Joe Perry" - it's really different, and very neat. A must for the collection!! Also included in the Box of Fire, so maybe if you don't have this one you should buy them all!!

Short, But Can't Argue With The Performance,
By
This review is from: Classics Live 2 (Audio CD)
Classics Live II is even better than the first one. This time Perry and Whitford are in for the entire performance, turning out smoking renditions of "Walk This Way", "Draw The Line", and an excellent "Same Old Song and Dance" among others. The only problem with this is the same with Classics Live, it's too short. What I suggest, if you have the equipment to do so that is, is that you combine the two somehow. It's worth it, and it will make you enjoy these two live albums even more.

One step higher than Classics Live!,

If "Classics Live!" is a very good album, "Classics Live! 2" is better, but if you want to hear the best live album, buy "Live! Bootleg" (only classics) or "A little south of sanity" which includes classics from 70's, 80's & 90's. I have a better idea: buy all of them!

Aerosmith pounds out the favorites,
By A Customer
This review is from: Classics Live 2 (Audio CD)
While "Live! Bootleg" (1978) is the ultimate live Aerosmith album for any true fan, Classics Live II is definitely a more polished and accessable affair. Whereas Bootleg was riddled by some weaker performances (on the band's best-known songs, no less) and an intentionally sloppy delivery, Classics Live is like a very short, but very hard-hitting concert with the band in top form. IN fact, every performance here is brilliant, except (in my opinion) "Walk This Way", which loses something in Steven's awkward vocal delivery. But classics like "Back in the Saddle", "Draw The Line", "Last Child" & "Same Old Song And Dance" have never sounded better. And the highlight of the record is an OUTSTANDING performance of one of the band's earliest tunes, "Movin' Out" - far surpassing it's original studio recording. A great album for dedicated and casual fans alike - just a shame it's so short.

Live Aerosmith is good,

Nothing big but just a live album with great performances of classic songs. Best version of 'Back In the Saddle' they have released and solid versions of the rest.

It's Ok, But The Drum Sound Is Terrible,
By Tim Bianconi (Jacksonville, FL) - See all my reviews

Other than the cheesy mid-80's synthesized drum sound, this live album is ok. Most of this album was recorded during the "Back In The Saddle" tour. While it's definately better than the mostly lacklustre 'Live Bootleg', I think the original 'Classics Live' or 'A Little South of Sanity' are a lot better. That terrible drum sound really ruins this record in my opinion.

great song choices!,

For the second of the Classics Live CDs,they used a handful of songs from a New Years Eve concert in 1984.So, this time the majority of the songs are from the same era,but the thing that makes this album so great is the fact that it,has great song choices, and the songs are performed very well.

The Real Classics Live,

I don't know what they were thinking when they chose the song and performance selection for the first Classics Live but this one shows them rebounding nicely. Here are all your favorites on one disc. It's probably the cleanest and best live account of their music from the 70s. Something not to miss.
