The Classics,
By Anna M Janssen (Mesa, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Classics (Audio CD)
I first heard this tape when my friend brought it along on a trip we took together. The trip lasted a total of 6 hours and this is the only tape we listened to. You will not get tired of the songs and you will be inspired. It is the first time I ever heard of Ray Bolts and I tell you that he is now my favorite Christian Artist. If you want to be moved and inspired and feel the love of Jesus this tape is a must.

Awesome CD!,

I just purchased this CD last weekend. I can't stop playing it! I love all of the songs - my favorites are: He's Alive, O Lord Your Beautiful, Rise Again, People Need The Lord, Through It All, and The King Is Coming. It is a MUST HAVE for Ray Boltz fans. It is my prayer that all who listen to this CD be touched by God and know that God loves them!

Classics from Cover to Cover to Cover....,

Frankly, this is something I'm surprised other Christian artists hadn't done before. Ray Boltz takes 11 classic Christian songs from the 70's and early 80's and rerecords them. And it's a wonderful collection. The songs alone are worth the price of the CD. He's got the familiar ("Great is the Lord from Michael W. Smith, Rich Mullins' "Awesome God," "People Need the Lord" by Steve Green, "O Lord, You're Beautiful" by Keith Green) and songs not as well known today but well known back in the day ("He's Alive" Don Francisco's signature song, "Rise Again" by Dallas Holm, "We Will Stand" by Russ Taff, "If that Isn't Love" by Dottie Rambo). Most of the time, he stays true to the original songs, just updating the arrangements slightly. There are a couple of missteps, like the drums on "He's Alive" and again on "Rise Again." But these songs don't suffer too much, and it's a minor annoyance overall. This is a great place to get a sampling of classic Christian music or for nostalgia buffs to go and remember some classic songs.
