The Classics,
By Anna M Janssen (Mesa, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Classics (Audio CD)
I first heard this tape when my friend brought it along on a trip we took together. The trip lasted a total of 6 hours and this is the only tape we listened to. You will not get tired of the songs and you will be inspired. It is the first time I ever heard of Ray Bolts and I tell you that he is now my favorite Christian Artist. If you want to be moved and inspired and feel the love of Jesus this tape is a must.

I just purchased this CD last weekend. I can't stop playing it! I love all of the songs - my favorites are: He's Alive, O Lord Your Beautiful, Rise Again, People Need The Lord, Through It All, and The King Is Coming. It is a MUST HAVE for Ray Boltz fans. It is my prayer that all who listen to this CD be touched by God and know that God loves them!

Classics from Cover to Cover to Cover....,
By Mark Baker (Santa Clarita, CA United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Classics (Audio CD)
Frankly, this is something I'm surprised other Christian artists hadn't done before. Ray Boltz takes 11 classic Christian songs from the 70's and early 80's and rerecords them. And it's a wonderful collection. The songs alone are worth the price of the CD. He's got the familiar ("Great is the Lord from Michael W. Smith, Rich Mullins' "Awesome God," "People Need the Lord" by Steve Green, "O Lord, You're Beautiful" by Keith Green) and songs not as well known today but well known back in the day ("He's Alive" Don Francisco's signature song, "Rise Again" by Dallas Holm, "We Will Stand" by Russ Taff, "If that Isn't Love" by Dottie Rambo). Most of the time, he stays true to the original songs, just updating the arrangements slightly. There are a couple of missteps, like the drums on "He's Alive" and again on "Rise Again." But these songs don't suffer too much, and it's a minor annoyance overall. This is a great place to get a sampling of classic Christian music or for nostalgia buffs to go and remember some classic songs.

inspirational gospel song? Ray Boltz has it from God,
By AKINWALE IJASEUN (NIGERIA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Classics (Audio CD)
RAY BOLTZ has really touched my life his inspirational songs from God. This is not from me alone but also from a lot of my good friends in Nigeria.Ray has a special gift from God which enables him to carry his listeners to the actually scene of whatever he is singing about. He has demonstrated this in all his album I have: Concert of a life time(I dreamed I went to heaven & I will praise the Lord), No greater sacrifice(What if I..?), Honor and Glory(the last to be chosen), Season Changes(I think I see gold),Another Child(Ballad of william Joe) and all the tracks in The Classics. Coincidental I was out today (Nov. 13 2001) to check if Ray Boltz has released any album after the Classics and when I Couldn't find it in the stores, here I am searching through amazon thereby dropping this review. I pray that God breath of inspiration will continually be poured on Ray Boltz on daily basis. Amen.

Ray Boltz sounds great, as always, on this cd. His songs are written and sung from the heart and makes the listener feel moved and inspired. A classic artist that writes what the rest of us wish we could express and sing in the awesome way that Boltz performs. Highly endorsed!

It's got to be hard to remake a song. Even the same artist releasing a song years later rarely re-captures the feeling of the original. The songs on this CD are certainly classics - songs that you'll remember and sing along with the first time you RE-hear them. Ray Boltz didn't try to "copy" the original artists; instead he gave the music an updated sound and feel. Once I got over my "but that's not the way I remember it" issues, I really enjoyed the album. My only complaint is that with his strong voice he tended to lean toward a 'breath-y' sound. This is easily outweighed by the selection of songs themselves. I'm glad I found this CD!

The music Ray Boltz records seems to touch the right spot. The songs truly are classics yet Ray has arranged them in an updated way. I also like the songs he recorded. They seem to touch upon all styles of Christian music.
