During my formal education, I had to read a lot of books on methods and classroom management. This text praticals covers all important topics and sums up the really important aspects of many concepts. Topics are discipline, preparing for the school year, working with parents, lesson planning, community of learners, motivation and challenging students.
I am presently rereading this book in order to prepare for my job in the fall. It's a keeper!

The book has some good points to it, however I would not purchase again or tell my friends to buy it.

I would definitely buy this book again. It is a great resource for teachers wanting to set up their classrooms. I found many great ideas on setting up a classroom environment and as I read I made note of items that I would refer to later. I am keeping this book on my shelf as a permanent resource to refer back to as I need it, and I will often.
The book contains a lot of information which is really nice, but in one chapter it only gives an overview of classroom management programs and I was longing for more details on those. However, I can understand why the information was condensed because the book would be really long otherwise. Overall this book gives me somewhere to start in designing my classroom and has a lot of good information and ideas on how to do it in the best way.

The book I received was a thoughtful presentation for use in the K-12 environment. It gave good suggestions for supporting learning in positive ways.

There is nothing in this book that is so amazing that it is worth the price. Everything in this book is common sense. I found no worthwhile information that will help me in the classroom. Anyone who has taught a week in a classroom knows everything in this book. My advice, don't buy it!

Being familiar with Burden's own petty, insulting, misogynist, micro-managing style, I found few useful things in this book. But what do you do when there's such a startling disparity between the content and the person's practice? I say look elsewhere....

As an Exceptional Student Education Major in college this book has everything you need to have a well managed classroom. I would recommend this book to those in the General Education Field.
