Editorial Reviews

Review

Germain's images offer an intense survey of a shared experience, tapping into surprisingly universal elements of the classroom setting as well as inevitable idiosyncrasies of culture and locale. --Photo-eye

The range of emotion displayed by every group is mesmerizing. --Photo District News

From the Inside Flap

What happens when a stranger enters a classroom during a lesson and asks for the pupils' total concentration for 15 minutes in order to make their portrait? He positions everyone with great care (so that they can clearly be seen) and then demands that they stay completely still for the long exposure.

i purchased this for a 3rd grade teacher in a very diverse 3rd grade classroom. she and her kids loved it, even though the photos are of older students and they have added their own photos to the book.

I'm a former English teacher and spent my fair share of time in the classroom. This book was great for my coffee table, with great color photos from across the globe. What I really found interesting were the facts and comparison charts in the back. I really with this book had some quotes from students in those classrooms or something more focussed on the kids, but overall this product is a great visual in my living room.

Beautiful, thought provoking book. I ordered one and loved it so much I ordered another two for gifts. The different cultures and expressions highlighted in this book are endlessly fascinating.
