Book Description

December 1, 1999
This resource advises teachers how to meet the needs of a diverse student population within a mainstreamed classroom. It lists examples of questions teachers should ask and the kind of help they might expect from classroom aides, administrators, the school board, and parents. Here are the goals that teachers should set for special needs students, the roles of other students in the classroom, and the steps to take if the placement is not successful. Attention is paid to each special need-the disability is clearly defined, characteristic behaviors are outlined, and suggestions for working with each are given.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Gen Ed teachers, September 18, 2004
This review is from: The Classroom Teacher's Inclusion Handbook (Paperback)
As an inclusion facilitator, I highly recommend this book for the general education teacher. It is well organized, well written, and provides detailed but direct overviews about specific learning challenges, as well as accommodations that are viable in the classroom. I read the whole thing from cover to cover and am recommending to all of the teachers that I am working with.

This book was purchased for a graduate class to help aid in a reference book of special education. This book was extremely useful and something as a teacher I would go back to and review information. The format is great and is very easy to find the information you are looking for. A very great buy for someone in education or taking special education classes.

I am only one of the lucky students who have not only had the pleasure of reading this book, but I have had Mr. Yanoff as one of my teachers. I really only picked this book up because I enjoyed his teaching so much. As a future teacher I can honestly say that after having Mr. Yanoff as a teacher and after reading this book I think that I am ready to take on the challenges in the classroom. Thank you Mr. Yanoff for you wonderful class and for writing this book so I will never forget what you taught me. :)
