Second Edition,
This review is from: Classroom Teacher's Survival Guide: Practical Strategies, Management Techniques, and Reproducibles for New and Experienced Teachers (J-B Ed: Survival Guides) (Paperback)
This guide is a comprehensive and user-friendly reference filled with practical strategies and tips for solving the everyday problems you face while organizing and managing a classroom. It's designed so that you can pick and choose from among the smorgasbord of ideas to find exactly what you need for your unique classroom situation.
This second edition specifically addresses the changes that have occurred in education since the first edition was published: the standards-based, high-stakes testing environment, the role of the Internet in learning, the increase on the time demands of teachers, and the call for greater teacher accountability. It's great for both beginning and experienced teachers.

Best practices for all teachers,
By Leila Giesenschlag (North Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Classroom Teacher's Survival Guide: Practical Strategies, Management Techniques, and Reproducibles for New and Experienced Teachers (J-B Ed: Survival Guides) (Paperback)
Easy to read with many bulleted points, this book is helpful to first-year teachers as well as those who have been teaching for longer. I find that every now and then I need to look at something new to re-energize myself for better planning and more effective teaching. This book does that. It offers best practices in behavior management, time management, lesson planning, effective teaching, and assessment. It also contains helpful lists of professional organizations, professional journals, computer software sources, and instructional materials suppliers. While other authors spend so much time focusing on procedures, this author gives you helpful procedural information but focuses on explaining how you can build relationships with students and make learning an active endeavor. He even encourages you to smile while you're doing it.

A deatiled book for use only on an "as needed" basis.,
By akt2@cyberg8t.com (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Classroom Teachers Survival Guide: Practical Strategies, Management Techniques, and Reproducibles for New and Experienced Teachers (J-B Ed: Survival Guides) (Paperback)
I'm very disappointed in this book, although some information IN it is valuable, it will take a long time to read the entire book cover to cover. It is an excellent Textbook but not a handy guide to flip to on a regular basis and find ideas for what you need. Although broken into sections, they are not readily found or visible. One must search the information needed as in a research assignment. The reproducibles are MAINLY for elementary grades. This was not stated in the very short and brief summary of it's contents, on-line. Although the price was reasonable, I'm not pleased with the way the book is organized & printed.
