5.0 out of 5 stars Claudia and Mean Janine, April 22, 2006
A Kid's Review
The reason I put this book for five stars is becuase it really is interesting. The part where Mimi has a stroke really scared me because I was worried about Claudia loosing Mimi because I know what it is like to loose someone very close to you.So I really was worried but when the doctors said that Mimi was going to be okay I was so happy. But I really liked the part in this book when Claudia and Janine were being nice to each other. It kinda sounds like my sister and I.I really enjoyed this book even tho some of this book they spoke Japanese I still liked it.Oh!One more thing I don't like this book..........I LOVE it.I really enjoyed this book and I hope you will too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Claudia's summer goes from good to bad., July 15, 1998
By A Customer
Claudia is all set to have a great summer with her friends but then her grandmother gets sick. All of a sudden she is the one wh has to give up her summer to look after her. Even thought she loves her grandmther it infuriates her that her sister's activities take priority over hers. A really good book about sibling rivalry and family relationships. I would strongly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars claudia,claudia,claudia, May 7, 2003
This review is from: Claudia and Mean Janine (Baby-Sitters Club) (Hardcover)
Claudia and her older, incredibly intelligent sis Janine, still find it hard to understand each other. But Janine was never actually very mean.
*Even worse,Mimi, their beloved grandmother, has come to the end of her days.It is typical of a BSC member to be a selfish creep which is exactly what Claudia is when ,oh dear ,the poor little diddums is forced to carry magazines and stuff to old Mimi while Mimi is sick.Really.You wouldn't think it would be such an awful hassle after Mimi's years of "special tea" and chats and cooking. But as I said what more can one expect from one of these girls??
*This is a very well-written book and Mimi's sickness was handled realistically.
*Young readers should probably know it isn't a happy book.It deals with the reality of growing old and weak and dying.IN A WAY,learning of old-age death can be more saddening than knowing of young death, because when a young person dies(it's actually a sadder thing to happen but..)you can feel like it was a fluke and you know it probably won't happen to you but the death of old people reminds us that every one of us will fall off the perch. So in that way it is a harder thing to read about than ,like, if I read SVH about Olivia dying and all I'd have to think is oh she was crushed by a fridge, that's a tragedy, but what are the odds..??...I am so raving on.Bye.
