A Kid's Review
This is a really fun book I read over and over again. It's about a girl named Claudia Kishi who constantly receives weird phone calls on baby sitting jobs, where nobody answers. She had heard about a jewel thief nicknamed the Phantom Caller, who would call people who have a large amount of valuable jewelry, and when nobody answered, he would go to their house and rob them of their important jewelry. She was scared it was him, and also found out that her other friend from the babysitters club named Kristy Thomas was getting the weird phone calls, too. Later, their neighbors the Goldmans are robbed, but then they find out that it was only an imitation robbery. However, the babysitters club is still in a crisis. Mary Anne Spier is even banned from babysitting until the Phantom Caller was caught. Towards the end of the story, Kristy's Phantom Caller is actually a boy named Alan Gray that secretly liked her, and Claudia's was a boy she had been crushing on named Trevor Sandbourne. At the end of the story, the jewel thief is behind bars and Mary Anne can baby sit once again. My favorite part was at the end when everything was solved. I would recommend this story to pre-teens who enjoy a good mystery story that isn't too scary and that they can relate to.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Phone Caller Mystery, December 15, 2006
A Kid's Review
The book Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls by Ann M. Martin is about four girls named Claudia, Kristy, Stacey and Mary Anne. They meet each other at school and they want to baby-sit so the make a babysitters club. They think of ways to make people want to have them as there babysitter. They become a group and do it for a really long time and for what I have read in each book there together and they meet other people to be in the club. The only problem about that is that some people leave. ¼ So in this book they hear about this Phantom Phone Caller and what the phantom phone caller does is he calls and he sees if anybody is home and he calls and hangs up. If anyone does not answer he will come and rob the house. If anyone does answer he will still rob the house. They hear all about it and they hear that he is there city. Only Claudia and Kristy get the phone calls. Who could it be?

I think that Claudia and the Phantom phone Calls is a great book that if you like short stories and you do not want to put your book down I definitely recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous then and now!, October 28, 2006
I first started reading these books in late elementary school and through junior high. I could relate being a baby-sitter myself and how I wish I had a club like this!!

Now I'm 23 and decided to start re-collecting the series after my mom had me sell a lot of my old books in a garage sale years ago. They are still great!! Juvenile now, of course, but it teaches young girls about friendships, family situations, etc.

Living by myself and reading Phantom Phone Calls even still freaked me out a little and I huddled down in the covers with my cat. The first 30 are the best, since they were actually written by Ann M. Martin and the others ghost written. A big fan of the mysteries and super specials as well. Highly recommended to girls of all ages!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is scariest book ever... and greatest too!, February 18, 2000
BSC is so scared. They've started to get weird phone calls when they're baby-sitting. They don't know what to do. The scary adventures at stormy nights, when lights are out... And phone keeps ringing... and ringing... and ringing...

This book was scarier than Stephen King's books! To make it scarier, read it at night! Or, well. Maybe you shouldn't, because you can't sleep after that.

"Cheeann" was wrong with her review. Because this is made in 1986 and there wasn't many Caller ID's those days. So, this book is realistic!

I'll rate this with 5 stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Claudia's not sure she wants to find out who's calling., August 27, 1999
By A Customer
Kristy, Claudia, Mary Anne, and Stacey have had some strange adventures since they started the Baby-sitters Club. But nothing's been as spooky as what's going on right now. The baby-sitters have been getting mysterious phone calls when they're out on their jobs. When a phone rings and they pick up, there's no one on the other end of the line. Claudia's sure it's the Phantom Caller, a jewel thief who's been operating in the area. Claudia has always liked reading mysteries, but she doesn't like it when they happen to her. So she and the baby-sitters decide to take action- with some very mixed results!

This book was awesome. It's all about that someone is robbing houses. And they call the house then when someone would answer the phone they would hang up. Even though this book was scary I loved it. You should really read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book for preteen girls, September 9, 2005
This was the first BSC book I read. I was about 11 and got hooked on it after the first few pages. I remember sitting in my living room alone at night reading the part about Claudia hearing strange noises coming from outside while she was babysitting one night. I got frightened myself! The mystery element was terrific. Ann M. Martin is one of the greatest children's authors. She really understands preteens. No doubt she's so good because she was a teacher.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spooky Mystery, November 3, 2011
A Kid's Review
With a robber on the loose, the babysitters Kristy, Mary Anne, Claudia, and Stacy don't feel safe. Set in Stoneybrook, Connecticut, Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls by Ann M. Martin is sure to keep any reader's hair standing on end.

When Kristy, Mary Anne, Claudia, and Stacy are out alone on babysitting jobs, they receive phone call after phone call in which the caller hangs up before speaking a word--the robber's prelude to each robbery. Claudia and Kristy, who are babysitting together, then see a prowler in the front yard. They are convinced that the house will be robbed. Will Claudia, Kristy, and the children for whom they are babysitting be safe?

Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls is a spectacular mystery because the suspense is gripping throughout, and there is a great plot twist at the end. In addition, it teaches kids to be careful and to take safety measures when parents aren't home. I highly recommend this book.
