5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Road to Success
Although I don't eat much KFC, I picked up a copy of this short book.

It may be short, but the stories are very interesting, for instance Col. Sanders first business venture was the owner of a gas station, there was a little room to the side where he put a table and a couple chairs and offered his food to travelers. Soon business for his own coking surpassed...

2.0 out of 5 stars Boring as a box of Quaker Oats
The short of the story is that this book is a biography of Colonel Harlan Sanders' (of Kentucky Fried Chicken, KFC, fame) wife, Claudia. She was as mundane as the Colonel was ostentatious. Her biographer was a friend, Edward G. Klemm, Jr., (a Louisville, Kentucky attorney).

I gave the book two stars instead of one because the text is coherently written. And...

This review is from: Claudia, the story of Colonel Harland Sanders' wife (Paperback)
Although I don't eat much KFC, I picked up a copy of this short book.

It may be short, but the stories are very interesting, for instance Col. Sanders first business venture was the owner of a gas station, there was a little room to the side where he put a table and a couple chairs and offered his food to travelers. Soon business for his own coking surpassed customers for gasoline.

The backgrounds of Colonel Sanders and his wife are very interesting to read.

The only part I wasn't crazy about was with the extensive details of their travels. It gets heavy into styles of European and Asian life, that can be found anywhere. Why so much of the back pages are filled with her thoughts on European living, I don't know. It would have been better if she kept grounded on the family and business.

Otherwise this short story is a good document of American success.

I gave the book two stars instead of one because the text is coherently written. And perhaps if you wanted to read a about minor success story, this one might work for you.

I bought this book (for a quarter at the local Goodwill Store) for one exclusive reason: were there any hints as to the Colonel's 11 herbs and spices? The answer is NO. Claudia shared a total of 10 recipes with us, none of which are chicken unless you count eggnog.

This obscure work is in softcover and runs a total of 93 pages, not counting the recipes at the end.
