5.0 out of 5 stars A Powerful Ending to a Great Story Arc
Cade Skywalker is a rebellious and emotionally broken former Jedi. Sought by the evil Sith that now rule the galaxy, scheming factions of the Empire, and his own former teachers, Cade heads to Coruscant, the stronghold of his enemies, to try and make amends for the wrongs he has committed.

Claws of the Dragon is the most powerful and action-oriented addition...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly what I expected
The story is seems a little bit awkward. The characters are not well developed. And some elements of the story are just like parachutes: they just drop down on it. But overall is a good story, not great. You will be forgetting it in a short time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Powerful Ending to a Great Story Arc, July 5, 2008
This review is from: Claws of the Dragon (Star Wars: Legacy, Vol. 3) (Paperback)

Claws of the Dragon is the most powerful and action-oriented addition to the Legacy series so far. Bringing together the various threads and backstories from Shards (Volume 2), CotD presents an excellent story filled with battles, scheming, and death that will rock the Star Wars Legacy universe. As well, the origins of such characters as Darth Krayt and Morrigan Corde are revealed.

CotD is my favorite entry in the SW:L universe so far, and I highly recommend it to both graphic novel enthusiasts and Star Wars fans. Volumes 1 and 2 should be read first, however, as Volume 3 builds significantly on the previously-established storylines.

Note: Star Wars Legacy, Volume 3: Claws of the Dragon collects issues 14 through 19 of the comic book series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Behold The "Dragon"...And Weep., June 24, 2008

I had no idea that Darth Krayt would turn out to be such a familiar character. I felt so sorry for him, for turning to the dark side, just so he could have a purpose in life.

I also liked how the story tied in with the "New Jedi Order" and "Legacy Of The Force" book series'. It was also nice to see Chak'ka the Wookiee again, now all grown up.

I was very surprised by the last page of the book. Does Moff Calixte have a personal connection to the Skywalkers? I hope we find out soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stand Back Agatha Christie!, January 8, 2009
This review is from: Claws of the Dragon (Star Wars: Legacy, Vol. 3) (Paperback)
I'll admit it. I wasn't a huge fan of Legacy #1. Cade Skywalker was, well, underwhelming, but for whatever reason, I recently bought Legacy #2. After reading #2, I went out and snatched up #3 and #4. I found #3 was exciting and, truth be told, I fancy myself a guy who can sort of see a twist coming... but the first twist sent me reeling. (I won't ruin it for you.) The second twist, on the very last two pages, though, was so subtle and sneaky I had to reread the pages twice to fully comprehend... and it blew my mind. I CANNOT wait for #5--I highly recommend going out and picking up Claws of the Dragon, and then pick up Alliance along with it!

Claws of the Dragon continues Cade Skywalker's journey to find himself. He flies by his own moral compass, chief rule of which is - no one dies for me. It's a good code to keep if you have a lifestyle like Cade.

His friends are loyal to a fault, and once again, a mysterious stranger comes to haul his butt out of the sith-set fires. All in all, a neat story that takes little to no time at all to read. However, if you really like comic art, it's full of pretty pics to keep you happy for a second or third read through.

In the 80's John Ostrander's Suicide Squad was on of the best dark superhero books around. In the 90's his horror superhero book 'The Spectre' was one of the strongest takes on the character yet.

So it's no surprise that in the 00's his dark take on the future of the Star Wars universe would be so good.

He continues to show his skill at developing memorable characters in a short amount of time and keeping multiple storylines going. In this volume the corruption of Cade Skywalker continues and we learn more about the villain of the book. The art remains as good as ever with aliens and humans coming to life.

This series works for both casual fans of Star Wars and for the obsessive fans who know every supporting character from every expanded universe book. That really shows Ostrander's skill at explaining and developing stories.

I'm hungry for the next volume.

I like this series I wish they would put it into regular novel form. Sometimes hard to follow all the characters. I enjoy it greatly though.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Legacy saga gets better and better, July 26, 2008
This review is from: Claws of the Dragon (Star Wars: Legacy, Vol. 3) (Paperback)
I was too late to catch the Legacy series issue by issue, so I've been buying the graphic novels as they come out. This latest installment will not disappoint fans. The storytelling is fast-paced and exciting, and the artwork is nothing short of extraordinary. Highly recommended for Star Wars fans who are looking to see more of the universe.
