3.0 out of 5 stars Full of twist and turns that will leave you shocked for sure
This book is about Jed Berg, a junior in high school, that has everything going for him. That is, until a punk chick Geretrude tells him an astounding secret that will change his life forever. In this romance/suspenseful book, Jed goes through a test of bravery, trust, secrets, and love that will teach him what life is really about.
One thing I liked about this...

4.0 out of 5 stars claws is great, April 19, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Claws (Hardcover)
The book claws by will weaver is a great book with lots of unexpected twists and turns like him meeting a "punk chick that seems to know everything about me and my family". Jed is a 16 year old kid who is falling into a downward spiral going deeper and deeper destroying his life. Like something they find in his locker that is a big drop but almost everything else that happens is so much worse.

4.0 out of 5 stars Truthfully, February 10, 2006

Jed has the perfect life for a teenager; he is great at sports and has a girlfriend. Than again nobody's perfect. Things began to go wrong for Jed right after he finds out his dad's secrets. He misses practice and messes up his grades. The problem is his dad doesn't know that he knows his secrets, so who does he talk to.
One thing I liked about this book is all the action going on at once that leaves you holding the book for hours. Also, I liked the middle of the book because of all the sudden romance. One of my dislikes would be the ending because everything falls apart.
I think that if you enjoy books that pull you into all the drama, as if you were there than this book is perfect for you. Also, if you haven't ever read one of Will Weaver's books than this is a great one to start with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Claws, November 17, 2005
This review is from: Claws (Paperback)
A young boys life comes crashing down when he meets "Gurtrude" a punk girl with pink hair. She tells him a secret about his family life that makes his perfect world come crumbling down. With a surprising, and slightly depressing ending this story will leave you with an aching heart. Very touching.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book Review, June 10, 2005

What is the perfect life? Jed Berg is a proud owner of that life. Doing well in junior high, has a senior girlfriend, and the top singles in varsity tennis. His friends are in complete envy. Jed's strong relationship with his parents is what his friends' wish they had for themselves. Jed ends up meeting this punk girl who is accusing his father of having an affair with her mother. Several e-mails force Jed to confront his father. Little does he know that this is only the start of the lined-up dominoes set to tip each other over. I recommend this book towards everyone. This book is more pointed towards fiction novel readers but it is also a great change in reading style. This book integrates real life problems, possibilities and one of the worst life disasters possible.

4.0 out of 5 stars REVEIW: Claws, February 24, 2005
This review is from: Claws (Paperback)
When i first started reading this book i thought it would be about a boy that has that perfect life and nothing wrong ever happens to him, and does not pertain to real life. but i was totally wrong once i finished reading this book, and that is what i like about this book. that is pertains to real life incidences and could happen to anyone, anywhere, at any given time. I also liked that young men and women could both read this book to get a good understanding about other peoples lives. But one thing i did not like about this book was that I did not like the ending and I believe it could have ended better. But overall this was a great book and i recomend it to anyone that is looking for a story that is interesting and never dull.

In this romance/suspenseful book, Jed goes through a test of bravery, trust, secrets, and love that will teach him what life is really about.
One thing I liked about this book was that it really showed how much reality is really in everyone's life. It shows that no matter how great everything is going for you, it can be just as easily destroyed in the amount of time it took to build it up. A couple of things that I didn't like about this book was that it was hard to get into in the beginning. It just kept on going on and on about things that didn't matter in the plot. I also didn't like the ending of the book because it made no closer to the problem in the book.
This book is similar to no other book I've ever read.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes action, suspense, and somewhat romantic books. This book can be for a boy or girl.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jed's Claws, January 3, 2005
By
This review is from: Claws (Paperback)
This book was excellent. It was about a guy named Jed. His life was perfect. He had a girlfrend, a killer car, a perfect family... What more could a guy ask for? But then he gets this note from someone and his life tumbles downstairs. At first he doesn't believe it but when he gets proof that his dad was having an affair, it messed up everything. He meets this person who gave him the note and he ends up falling in love with her. I was guessing about the ending all the way through the book and I STILL didn't find out the right ending. This book was really addicting and it shows you how even "perfect" people's lives can be ruined. When I first picked it up, I thought it would just be okay. When I put it down after I finished it, I thought it was brilliant.

4.0 out of 5 stars claws, May 13, 2003

This review is from: Claws (Hardcover)
Survival is the key term in Will Weaver's newest endeavor, Claws. The book portrays a web of love and betrayal in the struggle of a teenage boy to reclaim his life. Weaver adds another award winning title to his list of popular books. Getting into the teenage mind is critical in Weaver's writing, and he shows it thoroughly in this book. Jed Berg has everything a sixteen year old boy could want. the envy of the school, Jed just landed the prettiest girlfriend, gained his father's trust to drive his '69 Camaro, and just made number one singles on the varsity tennis team. his family was the essence of what life at home should be like. Successful parents, nice home, and a loving environment. His life is, for lack of a better word, perfect. But when Jed meets a creepy punk chick named "Gertrude", his perfect life becomes an emotional struggle for survival. She has a secret that will devastate Jed's family and set off a chain of events that will lead Jed through a maze of love, loss, and the ongoing fight for hope. Claws is the emotional epic of man versus fate and the battle between determination and self surrender. Written in 2003, Claws displays many modern aspects that kids today will relate to. He uses "The Sims", the popular videogame, in his writing to show life and how one cannot always control it. jed communicates to his acquaintances via internet acces and uses internet acronyms that even Weaver does not fully explai. "It's very weird," Jed's acquaintance writes, "BTW, sorry about your girlfriend." Weaver's knowledge of contemporary trends contributes to his abilities to reach young readers on a personal level and connect with them. Claws is an emotional roller coaster. Weaver grabs on and never lets go. His upbeat and "to the point" style of writing has gained him much appraisal and recognition. The character Weaver creates in Jed is one that all people can relate and sympathize with. I give this book a "must read" label, in the sense that Weaver makes the reader get behind the hero and urge him on. It demonstrates the need for hope in the darkest hours of life, when the only important element is optimism. Claws makes the reader believe that no matter how life is, the sun will rise tomorrow.
