Description: Jet Li reprises his role as Martial Arts Master Wong Fei Hung in this unofficial sequel (and parody) to the Once Upon A Time In China series. In this film, Wong needs a bigger school for his students. At first, good fortune seems to come his way when he finds a larger building for a lower price. However, this rapidly changes when he finds out that his next door neighbor is actually a brothel. Besides this, Wong has to deal with a group of perverted monks who are kidnapping girls to sell into slavery. They're in cahoots with the new chief of police (so to speak), a maniacal loon who is really fronting for the boxer rebellion. On top of all of that, foreigners are selling bogus medicine that causes hearing loss to Chinese children, and a father and daughter kung fu team are searching for their lost daughter/sister. Cast: Jet Li Lian-Jie, Cheung Man, Dicky Cheung Wai-Kin, Nat Chan Bak-Cheung, Leung Ka-Yan, Gordon Liu, Jue Tit-WohAnita Yuen Wing-Yee, Yuen King-Tan, Chung Fat, Wong Tin-Lam, Dion Lam Dik-On

4.0 out of 5 stars Iron Rooster Vs. Centipede, October 17, 2006
This review is from: Claws of Steel (DVD)
This movie is supposedly a remake of an old Kwan Tak-hing film but with Jing Wong and Yuen Woo-ping as co direcotrs, I doubt that it resembles any similarity at all.

As long as you remove from your head everything you knew about all of the Wong Fei Hung's films you ave ever seen, you should find this a very surprisingly good movie. Just stick the Jet Li you know from the OUATIC series into Jing Wong's world and see what happnens. It is actually my favorite Jing Wong film, BY FAR!!!! He comes up with these crazy ideas of sticking a centipede into the film to combat Wong Fei-hung in the lion dance. Can Jet stop the evil government officer in the centipede outfit from winning the lion dance with his northern rooster style?. The villianous officer is one of the funniest people I have ever seen. I was laughing so hard I was crying when he was asking Jet about his fist forms face to face about 2 inches away from Jet and then calling him a bad boy when he played it off like he isn't that good. With the best dubbed voice acting job EVER, you will be more than surprised at how extremely good his kung fu is. The dubbing on the Red Sun version of this is absolutely classic. I put it right up ther with Shaolin vs. Lama as some of the best dubbing ever. In fact, I would say it is my personal favorite dub job.

Jing Wong and Woo-Ping manage to put together a film that tells AND comp-letes a few good story lines, has knockout action sequences even featuring a couple with Master Killer himself-Gordon Liu, and the movie is genuinely funny. Jing Wong is not even close to funny in my opinion but he did a great job on this movie and really surprised me without even having to use his usual sleazy ways of making movies.

Also the music is outstanding. You will be singing or for sure humming this tune for the rest of your life after hearing it.

YOU HAVE TO GET THE RED SUN VERSION. It is the version I am reviewing with Jet in a rooster costume on the cover. Yes, he is in a rooster costume and it is an awesome scene! This version is UNCUT, has low sound quality(you can turn it up), and is full screened but it surprisingly does not effect it at all. The picture quality is really good though a bit faded. No special features, just the 105 minute movie.

This review is from: Claws of Steel (DVD)
DVD Jet Li, Wong, a Martial Artist, needs a bigger school for his students. Someone comes a long & offers him a larger room at a lower price. He soon find out, next door are a bunch of prostitutes. Wong, gives medicine to those that needs it, then he take some himself. A group of monks are selling girls into slavery, in with the chief of police. A father & daughter who know kung fu, are searching for their daughter/sister. The daughter is fighting with the bad guy, when someone behind her is going to do her in. Wong helps her. He tried to help them, but they won't let him. Wong fights with the monks, good fighting. The father gets hurt, then the daughter gets really hurt. She's coming to see Wong for help, but see's him talking to the man that hurt her father. Wong is fighting in a Chinese ceremonial martial arts dance & he lost, he finds out he could not hear, so he left. Heading to the father & daughter place, she fights with him, because of what she has seen. The father helps put him through some test that let him hear again, so they went back & Wong won the next martial arts dance as a rooster.
