Product Description

Everyone wants that thick, luscious green lawn, and one way to get it is by properly aerating the soil. These aerating shoes are one of the easiest ways to aerate the soil without feeling like you're actually working. These shoes come with 26 1.25-inch spikes in the soles that dig deep into the soil as you walk. These holes allow air and moisture to get deep down into the roots of grass, which boots growth, giving you a greener, fuller lawn. These lawn-aerating shoes easily slip over most any size shoe or boot with adjustable straps keeping them in place. A front toe kick allows you to knock off any dirt or grass build up. Properly aerating the lawn is as simple as walking, meaning you can do it while you mow the yard, water the yard or play catch outside. Simply by using all your body weight while wearing these aerating shoes, you'll be in for a greener, healthier lawn.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yard Puncher November 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
These sandals get mixed reviews. The key, in my case, was to make sure that the straps are securely in place and don't give when walking. I found that by doubling the strap back over itself through the loop keeps the strap secure.

Not hard to use at all...not rocket science. Nice product to aerate the yard while doing other chores in the lawn.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great sandals, cheap straps. October 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
I strapped the sandals on (very tight - 'cause they will slip off your feet if you don't). Then started to aerate my lawn. Two of the straps came loose within a few minutes. I tried to tighten them more, but the straps broke (the plastic clips are very cheap). I had to buy some new straps with metal clips. Other than that the sandals worked great.

2.0 out of 5 stars Use a stick with a nail on the end instead. March 25, 2011
These are impossible to secure properly. The straps have to be very tight to keep the shoes in place. This breaks the straps in short order. Soon you'll be buying new straps. Believe it or not, I took a ragged pair of sneakers and bolted the aerators to them. It worked! If you aren't willing to modify these right out the box, don't buy them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy these shoes. January 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I am very upset at myself for going against my better judgement and not adhering to the great advice published in the reviews. The straps broke within an hour of using these things, and my yard is no more aerated than it was prior to the use of this product. I would suggest renting an industrial aerator from a lawn and garden store.

2.0 out of 5 stars Broken first time I used them April 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I read the customer reviews before purchasing but bought them anyway. While trying to tighten the straps 2 of the 4 buckles broke. A number of folks mentioned the same in their review. Shame on me for buying them. I will just have to duct tape them to my boots next time.
I guess the saying is true..."You get what you pay for"

3.0 out of 5 stars Good except for the buckles April 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
After reading the reviews I bought these shoes with the expectation that the cheap plastic buckles would eventually break when the straps are tightened. Sure enough, they did the very first time I used them. These are light-duty straps like the kind backpackers use to carry a rolled-up mattress. Fortunately lashing straps with sturdier hardware are readily available, but I'll dock the product two stars because the manufacturer should have tested the shoes properly.

Still, the shoes and spikes are sturdy and worked well while the straps lasted. I live in Virginia and have a backyard full of rocks and tightly-packed clay. The spikes pierced the clay with ease and didn't dull or break on buried rocks. Be careful that you don't fall or turn an ankle while using these shoes, and be sure to tighten any loose spikes after use.

Having 200 or so pounds of weight behind these spikes does the aeration job in a way that lightweight rollers or pitchfork-like aerators can't. So buy yourself a better pair of straps and do some lawn stompin'. A good alternative to expensive lawn-care-service aeration.

5.0 out of 5 stars They aerate February 28, 2012

1. Yes they work great. No the straps don't work great. Yes the price is low. No the straps still don't work. Yes you need to stop complaining about the straps because those straps will never work well because they continue to loosen because you did not pay tons of cash for them. That is why they make duct tape.

2. Buy these, then tighten the straps as tightly as you can, then wrap duct tape around the bottom middle of each sandal and up over the top of your shoe or boot. Tighten your shoe or boot laces real good. Be sure to make a "courtesy tab" on the end of the duct tape which means that when you are finished taping each sandal, tear off the tape as usual but fold over a couple of inches of the end of the tape so you can grab the end of the tape to remove the tape when finished.

3. Don't complain about the straps & duct tape because they aerate perfectly without ruining your lawn. You also get great exercise. Make sure you stomp on every part of your lawn. I overlap steps as I stomp and if in doubt I stomp again. I aerate the perimeter first.

4. Sometimes I get into it (we have a small lawn) and do the neighbors front yard also. They saw me once and I told them "Pay no attention to me, this never happened!" They replied with something like "The Lord gets people to cover our backs". Congratulate yourself on saving a bunch of cash by getting these. After a couple of years, tighten all the spikes again. I lost one spike because I never checked them.

These shoes could not be used - not even once. Neither my husband, myself, or neighbor could keep them on or keep ourselves balanced in our attempts to use them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Serves but complicated to tie
It works fine, except how to put them on, the strips are very short and are not properly secured, so it is impossible to work, because you have to tie them every minute. Read more

I had this interesting idea that something like this could work. Do not take wrong, they do what they are supposed to: make holes on the ground. But, it is a lot of work. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars great for the yard but clumsy on my feet
I got this to aireate my grass. I fell down a few times, but it did the job. Just be careful when you are walking around on the side of a yard that is NOT level. LOL!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
Don't do what I did and waste your money. The straps broke on these very easily. Not worth it no matter how cheap they are or even if they were free.
